"Assam Burns - Nero Fiddles"!!!

There is nothing surprising in the report. Assam was waiting to happen. There is a hoary history of inaction on the part of the Congress Governments in Assam aided and abetted by the 'secular' Congress Government's at the Centre, in the treasonable action of allowing illegal Bangladeshi Muslims to settle in Assam, for the despicable reason of a captive vote bank. A Nation can be sold for votes!! That's the secularism of the Congress!!

Consider the following historical proofs. An internal note of the Union Home Ministry in March 1992 read as follows:

" The illegal immigration from Bangladesh into the Eastern and North-EasternStates and several other states in the country has become a serious problem. Immigration into the border states such as Assam and West Bengal was taking place prior to the formation of Bangladesh but the magnitude of the problem has assumed serious dimensions as large-scale infiltration has changed the demographic landscape of the borders and affected Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra etc. The simmering communal tension in some of the border areas is one of the manifestations of the effects of large scale illegal immigration of Bangladeshi nationals who have slowly displaced or dispossessed the local population, particularly those belonging to the Hindu community, in these areas. - - -. Combined with other census statistics one can safely conclude that no less than 7 to 12 million people have infiltrated into India between 1981 and 1991."

A report prepared by the General Secretaries of the Congress (I) to the Seventh General Conference of the North-Eastern co-ordination Committee, and presented to the then Prime Minister, dated 03 July 1992 stated:

" The infiltrations are not only by minorities of Bangladesh but also from the majority community Muslims. In absolute terms, the number of Muslims crossing into India is likely to be much larger than that of the non-Muslims. An ideological support is given to this phenomenon by the Islamic Fundamentalists creating the vision of a larger Islamic country comprising Bangladesh and the entire North-East where its economic problems will be solved and security ensured. There is a direct co-relation between the rise of fundamentalism and increase in influx.  - We beg the Prime Minister to give his personal attention to this affair that calls for answers to India's Eastern questions".

The signatories to this report were: Mr. R.C. Chiten Jamir (Nagaland); Mr. B.B. Dutta (Tripura); Mr. D.D. Pugh
(Meghalaya); Mr. H.K. Bora (Assam); Mr.Liansuama (Mizoram). –

In early 1996, Mr. T.V. Rajeshwar (now the Governor of U.P.) wrote a series of Articles in the English media. Some excerpts.

"  - - Figures have been given showing the concentration of
Muslim population in the districts of West Bengal bordering Bangladesh starting from the 24 Parganas and going up to Islampur of West Dinajpur district and their population being well
over 50% of the population. The Kishanganj district which was part of Purnea district earlier, which is continguous to the West Bengal area, also has a majority of Muslim population. The total population of the districts of North and South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, Nadia, Malda and West Dinajpur adds up to 27,337,362. If we add the the population of Kishanganj district of Bihar of 886,672, the total comes to 28,324,034. (All figures are based on the 1991 census). This mass of land with a population of nearly 2.8 crores has a Muslim majority. The total population of West Bengal in 1991 was 67.9 million and of these 28.32 million are concentrated in the border districts, with about 16-17 population of the minority community being concentrated in this area. This crucial tract of land in West Bengal and Bihar, lying along the Ganges/Hooghly and West Bangladesh with a population of over 28 million, with Muslims constituting a majority, should give cause for anxiety for any thinking Indian."

In a report submitted to the President of India on 08 Nov 1998, Lt. Gen.(retd) S.K. Sinha, the then Governor of Assam reported:

"  Large scale illegal migration from Bangladesh over several decades has been altering the demographic complexion of this state. It poses a grave threat both to the identity of the Assamese people and to our National Security. Successive Governments at the Centre and in the State have not adequately met this challenge - -. I feel it is my bounden duty to the Nation and the State I have sworn to serve, to place before you this report on the dangers arising from the continuing silent demographic invasion "

Gen Sinha went on to write:

" This silent and invidious demographic invasion of Assam may
result in the loss of geo-strategically vital districts of Lower Assam. The influx of these illegal migrants is turning these districts into a Muslim majority region. It will be only a matter of time when the demand for their merger with Bangladesh will be made. The rapid growth of Islamic Fundamentalism may provide the driving force for this demand. In this context it is pertinent that Bangladesh has long discarded secularism and has chosen to become an Islamic State. Loss of Lower Assam will severe the entire land mass of the North-East from the rest of India - - "

In 2003/04, a governmental note prepared for a conference of All India Directors General of Police stated:

" The problem of continued unabated influx of large scale (over 15 million) illegal Bangladesh migrants into India has assumed serious security implications. Illegal BD migrants have settled in various states including West Bengal (79 lakhs), Assam (50 lakhs),Bihar (4.75 lakhs in the north-eastern districts including Katihar, Sahebganj,Kishanganj & Purnia), Tripura (3.75 lakhs) and Delhi (3.7 lakhs). In Nagaland, the population of Muslims, mostly illegal migrants from Bangladesh, has more than trebled in the last decade - the figures rising from 20,000 in 1991 to over 75,000. Similarly, in Mizoram also, there has been a growth in the numbers of illegal Bangladeshi migrants though firm estimates are not yet available. The illegal BD migrants have significantly altered the demographic complexion, particularly of the border districts of West Bengal and Assam. Their ability to obtain ration cards as also enroll themselves as voters not only gives them back door entry to Indian citizenship but also political clout that facilititates the settlement of more illegal migrants. In Assam, the illegal migrants are able to affect State politics in a major way with their having acquired a critical say in around 50 of the 126 Assembly constituencies in the State. "

(REF: "GOVERNANCE AND THE SCLEROSIS THAT HAS SET IN" - Arun Shourie - Rupa& Co - pp-223-224).

Just about three months ago, a Judge of the Guwahati High Court, while severely castigating the present Congress govt. on its lack of action in detecting and deporting the illegal BD migrants, had stated that if the present inertia continued, aliens will become kingmakers in Assam!! In end 2004 at a seminar in Chennai, the Editor of the Assam English daily - Assam Sentinel - Mr.Baruah, told us that the next time he travels to Chennai, he might require a visa!!

Thats not all. Mark the prophetic words of Henry Kissinger, just after Bangladesh was formed:

"The inevitable emergence of Bangladesh-which we postulated-presented India with fierce long term problems. For Bangladesh was in effect East Bengal, seperated only by religion from India's most fractious and most separatist State, West Bengal. They share language, tradition, culture, and above all, a volatile national character. Whether it turned nationalist or radical, Bangladesh would over time accentuate India's centrifugal tendencies. It might set a precedent for the creation of other Moslem states, carved this time out of India. Once it was independent, its Moslem heritage might eventually lead to a rapprochement with Pakistan".

(REF: ibid - pp-208)

The Task Forces on Internal Security (N.N. Vohra) and Border Management (Mr. M.Godbole), set up by the previous NDA government in 2000, had stated in their report:

" On the Indo-Bangladesh border, growth of madrassas and mosques is taking place alongwith a shift in demographic composition due to illegal immigration of large number of people from Bangladesh into the border districts in India. Increasing crowding out of economic opportunities for the local population and the shift towards Islamization create potential for future strife. This is likely to put pressure on the strategic Siliguri corridor."

Continuing on the Indo-Bangladesh border, the Report warned that right across the region

"demographic invasion is taking place from across the border". Observing that in the border districts the magnitude of this invasion is "much more startling", that it is even "more menacing" than elsewhere the Task Force noted that the "Indo-Bangladesh border has seen the most rapid growth of madrassas and mosques".

The Task Force had recorded that on the Indian side, in close proximity to the border, there were 905 mosques and 439 madrassas, and, on the Bangladesh side there were 960 mosques and 469 adrassas. The Report then went on to state about how these mosques and madrassas were fuelling radicalisation of Muslim youth.

(REF: "WILL THE IRON FENCE SAVE A TREE HOLLOWED BY TERMITES"- Arun Shourie - Rupa&Co - pp -421-424)

Thus from 1992 onwards todate, the Central government has been getting a steady flood of Reports, warning about the grave situation in the North-East brought about by illegal migration of Bangladeshi Mulsims into the 'Seven Sisters' and West Bengal. And the Congress, enacts the IMDT, applicable only for Assam!! Recently when the Supreme Court struck down the Act as illegal, the Congress tried to bring the Foreigners Act 1946 in line with the IMDT!! This was struck down once again. But the reports of Asamese dailies indicate that the present Congress govt. in Assam is lax in the detection and deeportation of the illegal Muslim migrants. Vote bank politics. No more. No less. If these acts of the Congress do not constitute ' high treason' against the Nation, pray tell me what else it is? Any wonder then - Assam burns?

I await with bated breath for the 'secular media' to point the needle of suspicion at the despicable ' saffron hand ' in the current Assam turmoil!! Talk of Nero fiddling!! There is no dearth of that tribe in India !!

After all , ' WE ARE SECULAR, SILLY ' !!

What do you expect from a eunuch PM? is there a government at Delhi. Now the only thing they have in mind is getting to May 2009 and have elections.

Our nation is facing a grave situation. We are at the verge of a collapse. Democracy at stake. The government is acting like a totalitarian. Power at any cost.

no doubt to bangladeshi are

no doubt to bangladeshi are coming to india. it is a huge problem... as the quotes from studies above shows.it is true the way the government, congress and mainly the bureaucracy works it just ignores the problems and solves by denying it exists only to public.

it a poor country every year more and more destroyed with floods and what with global warming and all such the entire country will be drowned in a few years
then all bangladeshi wants to leave country and india is closest place no?
see suppose your house it drowns in water then you will go to another place maybe city or even usa, no?

it is all very well to say all are bad but no all bangladeshi is not bad see - they are very good embroidery, very good craft and hardworking people, and see very poor like they have lost everything hence they have to leave their homes. once they come here full exploitation but at least they get some work some food. india is rich country compared to bangladesh no?

but long term something has to be done. what are the options?
1) get angry and kill all bangladeshis. that may be the best solution but very very very very difficult to kill each and everyone of 150 million people. see with great difficulty Hitler killed 6 million jews, osama killed 3000 americans, americans killed 1-2 million iraqis.

2) seal the borders and force all bangladeshis to drown to death. that is what is the policy but still some bangladeshis are able to cross by sheer desperation... again sealing border is difficult by changing river courses so it is not clear where border is many times... lots of villages are on the border only and BSF kill many times farmer going to own land close to border, then call it terrorist to get promotion... and while war is glorious especially to those who die in it how will hindu glory be achieved in drowning 150 million people to death?

3) develop trade and economy of bangladesh. unfortunately this tho very very difficult is the only way mass influx can be contained. if the economy of bangladesh is strong they will invest in flood control with the help of indian engineers so that they can protect their life and livelihood. maybe hindu glory in commerce and engineering?

very good issue you have raised.

I want to draw Mr.Jankar's

I want to draw Mr.Jankar's kind attention to few points:
(1)Nobody want to take revenge on the bangladeshis,we are just demanding to stop their brutal attacks on the "son of the soil" of India. They have gone to the extent that they hosted pakistani flags, chanted slogans like"Mughal-pathan jindabad" during the attacks.
(2)From a newspaper report(came in front page of The Telegraph, date I can't remember, mostly within last 6 months),it has been known to us that the Intelligence Bureau had submitted a report regarding the hidden agenda of muslim fundamentalists to change the population demography of the bordering districts of west bengal and assam by huge influx from bangladesh.Funded by Arab fanatics, fundamentalists from bangladesh and pakistan joined in hand in executing this plan which has a ultimate goal of creating a greater "Islamistan"(as the report claimed),by encroaching those districts of assam & west bengal and thus extending the area of bangladesh. But knowing everything, our Union home ministry has taken the policy of ostrich by puting its head into hole, when the entire nation is on volcano's mouth.
(3)Based on evaluation from the subsequent census reports of the Government of India from 1971 to 2001,it has been surfaced that the Hindu growth was 19% in the last 20 years while the Muslim-Bangladeshis growth was almost doubled to 38% in Mumbai only due to illegal migration. The total population of Hindus in Mumbai City District was 21.19 lakh and that of Muslim-Bangladeshis was 7.34 lakhs. Out of the total population of 33.38 lakh, Muslim-Bangladeshis accounted for 22% in the Mumbai City District. Not just Mumbai, cities like Kolkata (in West Bangal) and Gurgaon (Haryana) in the Delhi NCR region have allegedly seen a heavy growth in illegal Bangladeshi population.
(4)And lastly,if we think that this migration is only out of economic reasons, then we are befooling ourselves. The root of the problem lie on the very psyche of muslim fundamentalism. They hold our nation a "land of kafir",and so it's their holy duty to turn it into a "land of Islam" by hook or crook. If you look back to past, you can see how India had protected the bangladeshis from the paws of pakistanis and fought to free them, thereafter India has been helping them as mauch as possible still today.Yet the fanatics of bangladesh have forgotten all those great deeds of India, and joined in hands with pakistani mullahs and ISI to do as much harm to India as possible.
The remedy is to act with iron hand as the situation demands, not as coward administrator with appeasement policy in mind.Identify and deport those illegal immigrants as per law of land.Make the border tightproof to curb down infiltration before it becomes too late.Take serious actions against those madrassas which preach anti-indian campaign in bordering districts of assam and west bengal. We need not to be insane like Hitler or Laden, but certainly like Israel - be vigilant and act tough...................

We are not only "Holier than

We are not only "Holier than Thou" secular but also imbecile dumb heads who have too little time to ponder about national problems. We are a horde of pop-patriots and can be galvanized only by cricket frenzy. Are we sure that everyone in India has at least heard about Assam? I am an Assamese based out of Hyderabad. Sometime back my mother was talking to a local lady. To my mother's shock the lady proclaimed that she does not where is Assam! There are certain vested circles which take Assam and Assamese culture with disdain and spoofing. Of course they also belong to clan of the educated Indian imbeciles who have little or no information about the length and breadth of India. We are too restricted to narrow paradigms of regionalism and myopic cultural specifics. Forgot about institutionalizing federal laws like Israel, USA and Russia, first let us try to educate ourselves with a secondary level course in Social Studies. Our people are too immature for a federal machinery to function like that of Russia where Jehadi's were thrashed inside the Moscow Theater for the cause of which even civilians became martyrs. We need to realize that an illiterate Bangladeshi infiltrator holding up at some remote village in lower Assam, staying at a mud house is far more dedicated, educated for the cause of greater Bangladesh and proliferation of Islamic fundamentalism than some half brain imbecile, educated Indian IT professional who may not be aware of how does different parts of India fit in the map.

only to clarify point 2.

only to clarify point 2. seal the border and drown the people of bangladesh. this is the actual policy of the indian government. this is the iron hand. a huge barb-wire fence has been made on the border but barb-wire fence cant be made in middle of shifting rivers. that is why it is impossible to stop people crossing the border. Even the US is not able to stop illegal immigrants with its dry border with Mexico.

india doesnt have enough police to solve any crime even like if your child is lost no police in India can find him. and politician/bureaucrat do not want much police otherwise the police catch them only for corruption charges. so not enough police to catch and deport all illegal bangladeshi migrants. and i would rather have police for the first 2 problems first.

i have lived in Mumbai and i never saw a quarter of the population being Bangladeshi so maybe the figures need to be checked (i will do that and get back if i can). and just the fact that they are there doesnt mean its bad. as i mentioned earlier they are great craftmen and are made to work for very low money because they are illegal. without them the jewelery and ethnic clothing industries may be somewhat adversely effected in Mumbai. they mostly live in the worst slums in dark congested places and work in terrible conditions to make beautiful things for indian dalals and seths to sell at huge profit both in India and abroad.

Even elsewhere they are made to do the worst kind of work which nobody else wants to do (maybe other than Bihari immigrants who by the way are the hardest working people in the country).

and if you have ever met any bangladeshi you will see how unaggressive they are. india is trying to prove its manliness by beating these weaklings and that is supposed to make hindus reach pinnacle of glory. for glory why dont you fight a difficult to defeat enemy like poverty, flood control etc.?

some data according to what

some data according to what available online of the census site. so not all data is there. but see some interesting findings.

In Assam migration from Bangladesh (without religion) is only 25,000 in the last ten years out of about 130,000 total since the formation of Bangladesh in 1971. Which means that there seems to be some kind of slowdown in migration in the last 10 years not a speeding up as one might expect. This is out of a total population of 26,655,000. Hence Bangladeshis account for 0.5% of population out of which at least some must be Hindu.

Total population of Maharashtra is 96,878,000 out of which 10,270,000 are muslim. In Maharashtra total international in-migration from all countries is 177,000 out of which only 15,000 are from Bangladesh. (compared to that 7,313,000 are inter-state in-migrants from other states of India.) Lets say that all the 15,000 went to Mumbai, then they are again 0.09% out of the 16,434,000 population of Mumbai. For Mumbai district out of total population of 3,338,000 the number of all muslims is 734,000, or about 22%. This is figure for all muslims not Bangladeshi alone. Including the Mumbai suburban district, the total population of the 2 districts is 11,978,000 out of which 2,222,000 are muslims or about 18.5%, again all muslims not just Bangladeshi.

For the country as whole 3,084,000 Bangladeshis have migrated to India since 1971 out of which 2,528,000 went to West Bengal and most these must have been Hindu (Census data of religion-wise migration not available online.) Again, in the last 10 years only 259,000 have migrated from Bangladesh to West Bengal. So here as well migration slowing down.

Another figure to note is that there are approximately 13-14 million Hindus still living in Bangladesh - 9% out of a population of 150 million.

Inspired by Israel (and in that the Congress is not that different from the BJP), the government is building a 4000 kilometre barbwire fence which they claim will completely isolate Bangladesh from India. Once the fence is completed in an year or two, there should be no infilteration any more.

Still it difficult to talk about illegal immigration from census data - most of such people may not even be counted by the census takers and then may not give such details.

Your Brother's picture

We all are aware of this

We all are aware of this grave situation. But what next are we just going to show are feelings this way? Do we not rise and awake all our brothers and sisters to do something before it is too late?
Time is running out my fellow brothers & sisters and if we dont do something right now then its not far that Republic day, Independence day and also Holi and Diwali will be an optional Holidays and Moharram and Eids will be a compulsory Holidays.....
