Police sniffer dogs may be forced to wear bootees when entering mosques and
Muslims' homes to avoid causing offence.

The Association of Chief Police Officers has not ruled out a suggestion that police dogs wear bootees.

In a bid to respect cultural sensitivities, the Association of Chief Police
Officers (ACPO) is considering the move while drawing up new guidelines on
the use of police dogs.

Many Muslims refuse to have direct contact with the animals, which are
considered "unclean" in Islamic culture.
