Ambushed..

In early 20th century, common Indians used to believe in the government & the people behind it. Government was responsible for every second activity of social interest. Citizens used to trust every promise made by the government (Though, the government was controlled by bunch of foreigners) And government used to keep every promises made to citizens. (British’s treatment towards Indians was secondary, but the code of conduct for every Indian was same.) At that point of time, Congress was already evolving to become face of Indian future. Indians started to believe in Congress as much as they believed British government. But they were also aware of the fact that Congress can make a promises but can’t keep every single of them since Congress didn’t have any power despite of the massive local support.
Then came the day of independence. British raj was over. Freedom was the outcome of collective efforts taken by Satyagrah Activists, Revolutionaries, Congress’s diplomatic pressure, & Second World War. Congress took the biggest share of the pie. They, got control of government. They had support of more than 33 crore Indians. That’s the different story. But still common Indians trusted government.
Decades passed. Year by year, failed government policies, unemployment, drought, unresolved Kashmir issue, Chinese incursions etc led to declining faith in government by Indian citizens. Citizens were suffered by red tape governance of babus, still they are suffering it. Till today, Indians trusted Indian Army, & Indian judiciary the most. But few incidents of scams in army left everyone stunned.

The Bofors scandal was a major corruption scandal in India in the 1980s; the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and several others were accused of receiving kickbacks from Bofors AB for winning a bid to supply India’s 155 mm field howitzer. The scale of the corruption was far worse than any that India had seen before, and directly led to the defeat of Gandhi’s ruling Indian National Congress party in the November 1989 general elections. It has been speculated that the scale of the scandal was to the tune of Rs. 400 million.

Sukna land scam rocked the Army headquarters. In 2009, an obscure trust made attempt to corner huge chunk of land in West Bengal. Army Court Martial has ordered a two-year seniority loss for Lieutenant General Rath, and has ordered 15 years of loss of service for pension. Rath, A serving Lieutenant General of the Indian Army was court martialled in the Sukna land scam case.

Many army Generals, Maharashtra CM found guilty in Adarsh scam last year. Adarsh housing society was meant for Kargil war widows. Unfortunately, all Khadi Mafias, Babus, & top army officials looted Kargil Shahids, even after their martyrdom. What a shame?

If those scandals were not enough, it is being found that our officers are involved in spying. They’re failing to honey traps, & money traps. A senior naval officer, Commodore Singh, closely associated with the contentious project to acquire aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov from Russia, which saw several twists and turns, was in the dock for alleged improper personal conduct. Few his objectionable photographs indicates a possibility of honey trap. Even possibility of scam in purchase of multibillion Admiral Gorshkov can’t be denied.

The 1.13 million-strong Indian Army, the third-largest armed force in the world, is being served food that is well beyond its expiry date. Army headquarters as well as the Indian defense ministry have been implicated in this latest scam to hit the annals of the Indian armed forces. Another matter of disgrace.

All those scams are much enough to demoralise our backbone, our army. Many scams must be there, un exposed. Beside those scams, army is being victim of pseudo human rights activists, internal pressure from seniors. Only army itself can cure this cancer by taking strict action, and punishing the culprit, so that no one in the future will ever dare to do such cheap act. Army is amongst our great establishment we can bank upon. But, some home grown enemies are crouching slowly, to ambush it and hence the nation.
