CRAZE OF AWARDS

Indians are crazy of awards and great lobbying goes on for these awards. Bharat Ratna is the highest national award in India and is given to very distinguished persons. Of late this award has become a controversy as all and sundry are aspiring for it. Every Tom Dick and Harry aspire for Bharat Ratna in India.

Normal politicians who change their colors like Lizards are also claiming and lobbying for the award. In fact political leaders are resorting to all manipulations to get these awards. During British rule the Englishmen bought the loyalty of landed gentry by awarding title such as Rao Bahadur, Diwan Bahadur, Sir, Raja Bahadur etc. After gaining freedom these titles were abolished but were replaced by Padma awards. It is new wine in old bottles. Same rat race goes on. Lot of heart burning is noticed in India. Lobbying was going on for getting awards for men like Vajpayee, Karunaanidhi, Mulayam singh and Kanshiram. On the other hand army guys are after Seva medals which replaced British titles such as Distinguished Service Order etc. Only God knows the truth behind the awards. Every General is given the award such as AVSM, PVSM, or at least one of these.A major General title without this tail may look awakward and very fact that he survived so long in uniform makes him deserving for such an award. Some are given two times making it a BAR in army language. Many deserving candidates vanish into history without any recognition because time, place and relations matter a lot in services. No heart burn please. Truth is pungent.A simple fact of life. Why awards at all? They are doing the duty to their best and it is their duty to do.It is leant in Japanese army there are no awards.The awards result in rat race, cut throat situation, back biting, digging graves from behind, sycophancy in services ( Chamchagiri or boot licking in normal language). Many are of the view that the awards should be abolished because they are mismanaged.

Crazy Indian guys are after national awards
Creepy they behave like garden lizards
Funniest guys are in the awards list
Entire thing is covered in a cloud of dirty mist
Meritorious guys are dumped in dust bin
While shady souls are found to happily grin
Guys in uniform do a balancing act
They manage the awards that is sadly the life’s fact
Once I saw a list on the eve of republic day
Early in the morning when donkeys bray
Commercial singers were given nation’s highest awards
While deserving men were struggling in an hospital ward
The singers who perform for a sack of coppers
Have been found to be the list’s toppers
The title of Indian gem* was bestowed on them
While deserving guys were swallowing their own flum
* Indian gem.. Bharat Ratna. It is the nations highest award
Entire drama of awards is of suspect
These awards have already lost the public respect
Tom , Dick and Harry are all in the mad run
As the entire nation watches the idiotic fun
The nation suddenly remembered Subhash& and Patel@
Whose photos are no more seen in roadside hotel
Patel and Subhash were crowned as Indian gems
And entire process was infected with dirty germs
& Subhash.. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He raised Indian national Army in Japan and fought the British during World War II. He is considered as par with MK Gandhi.
@ Patel. He was the iron man of India and Deputy Prime Minister after Indian independence. He was solely responsible for unifying India
Subhash’s daughter% had great self respect
Who promptly refused the award with due respect
Awards are given to please a section of public
This is regular gimmick in the Indian republic
(% Subhash’s daughter… She was born to German wife. Subhash married his secretary while he was given asylum in Germany by Adolph Hitler during World War II)
Why not give awards to Rama , Krishna, Sivaji and Akbar
To Ashoka, Harsha, Chandra Gupta and the raider Baber
How about the great Gandhi, Buddha, Bharatha and Hanuman
They deserved the awards more than the present controversial men and women
(Rama and Krishna were incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Shivaji was a Maratha king lived in 17 century, Akbar was a Mughal monarch. Lived in 16 th century, Ashoka, Harsha, Chadra Gupta were distinguished emperors in ancient India before Muslims came to India. Bharatha was great King who ruled India in yore and India derives its name from him. Buddha was the founder of Buddhism and some consider him as the 9 th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Savarkar was a great revolutionary and freedom fighter)
Valiant men and women laid down lives for India
Their names are not found even in news media
Great were sons like Bhagat singh, Azad and Savarkar
Whose statue collects dust from the [passing cars
Abettors of partition are glorified in Indian nation
As real freedom fighters are left out at bus stations
Pseudo patriots have field day today
On republic day the leaders loudly however bray
The army generals are sure to get awards and medals
For having survived so long without getting into troubles
They have happily manged the balancing act for years
While deserving guys fade out without shedding any tears.
