"Akhanda Bharat," an imagination which could lead to a nightmare VI
After the partition and future
After the partition, only a small segment of the Muslim population in the Hindu side of India had moved to Pakistan (and Bangladesh), but almost all the Hindu population in those countries was either massacred. Those who could escape did not do so because they were allowed to leave, but they hurriedly left in the middle of the night, leaving everything they owned, grabbing their little ones and running in horror. If India was an undivided country, the Muslim population would have increased and persecution of Hindus by Muslims continued unabated. In stead of a sycophant government of the Indian National Congress, we would have had a Muslim League government with the backing of Hindu sycophants, which would have been much different from the rule of the Mughals, Nizams or other Muslim rulers. That is what is happening in Jammu & Kashmir now. Same thing will happen in West Bengal and Kerala soon. They now have a Muslim population of 35% and 25% respectively.
Diplomatically and from security point of view
So I have to be honest about it and say that the talk of “Akhanda Bharat” is without merit and preposterous. Besides it is untenable from the point of view of national security and diplomacy. Partition of India has been done and that part of real estate is a sovereign State. Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar have been so long time ago. Tibet is part of the Peoples’ Republic of China. I do not agree the Chinese contention that it was always part of China. It was not. It was annexed and forcefully occupied. However, India has accorded recognition. So have many other nations. Dalai Lama and some of his followers are trying for some form of autonomy or whatever they may call it, with limited moral support from western countries. India has helped them when they came as refugees. As a nation, India has limited role in their future. The best thing we can do is, to grant them citizenship if they apply for that. That does not mean that I agree to China’s claim over our territories. Claiming emotional attachment to territories which are part of other sovereign nations is not only undiplomatic, but also invite political and security consequences. In the western world, there is a concept called “pre-emptive strike.” Such strike was done in the past even without legitimate reasons or aggressive territorial claims. When a nation is threatened, it rarely disregards that threat, but retaliates. The only exception to that rule is India. The Indian government is used to denying and playing excuse against belligerence and aggression. So I would request people who hold positions of power and influence not to provoke other nations by declaring emotional territorial objectives based on some imagination. I would also request not to emotionally incite Hindu people on such ideas. They are already persecuted philosophically, socially, economically, politically, and physically. An amazingly large percentage of the people of India live in abject poverty and illiteracy. The small pockets of India that shine does not illuminate the large Indian nation.
Lastly, it would wipe out Hindus from the Indian sub continent sooner than it would, under the mal administration of the sycophants called Indian National Congress with the support of their vote bank, which would swell. Therefore, I would request Hindu leadership to do comprehensive study of various perspectives from social, political, economic and cultural points of view before making policy statements like “Akhanda Bharat.” In other words, spare this kind of unnecessary talk.

Hary's assertions are
Hary's assertions are riddled with inaccuracies. For example, there was no notion of the Indian subcontinent even 50,000 years ago - to say that Mayanmar is not part of India comes out of such pre-fixing nonsense. And Bharata is placed somewhere after Srirama (ignoring that the two lieages were parallel and Bharata pre-dated Shrirama - surya vamsha and chandra vansha of Ikshvaku ancestry).
Just because things are the way they are now should not preclude a vision of akhand Bharat covering the Jambu dvipa. This has been and is the center of human heritage, civilization, and will be in the future also. Vishwa Guru indeed is Bharat - for here only lives the thought that the whole humanity is one family.
During post-Buddha heights of Buddhism in Bharat, there was hardly any asthika culture. But a Kumarila Bhat said "This is no good for humanity" and initiated change. 500 years later there was no Buddhism in Bharat to talk about. So will be the non-asthika life in and around Bharat, if not in the next 50 years, certainly could be history 500 years down the road. Therefore a vision and goal of asthika akhand Bharat is essential. Bhagwat ji is no fool.
