Does anyone care to save young lives?

BJP Kerala has announced its candidates for the bye elections in three Assembly Constituencies in Kerala. BJP has limited presence in Kerala. Percentage of its vote share in the last eight Lok Sabha elections were (2009 – 6.31), (2004 – 10.39), (1999 – 6.56), (1998 – 8.02), (1996 – 6.22), (1991 – 4.61), (1989 – 4.51), (1984 – 1.75), going chronologically backward. It boasts Kasargode, Palghat and Trivandrum constituencies as its bastion, but in Kasargode the percentage of BJP share was 14.81, 12.25, 11.02, 11.90, 12.23, 9.89, 8.71 etc. In Palghat, 8.71, 18.00, 10.90, 8.34 etc. In Trivandrum, 11.4, 29.86, 20.93, 12.39, 10.63, 11.33, 8.47 etc. BJP fielding its own candidates only helped anti Hindu coalition. LDF is not different from UDF, but the left front has mass appeal.

There is need to pay special attention to Kannur District in which BJP workers are always in clash with CPI (M) workers. Many Hindu youth belonging to both BJP and CPI (M) have been killed over the years only to preserve the ego of leaders of those parties. My first priority if I were leading either of those parties would have been to bring peace between these warring groups. I am amazed to read about the irresponsible politics which caused the political killings in Kannur. Someone aught try to stop the nonsense. Young Hindu boys from poor families are meeting violent death or receiving violent injuries to achieve nothing. Someone has to have some sense.

Most of the Communists are “God fearing” and observe religious rites and participate in various religious activities fervently. Only its leaders are atheists, that too to show off. What they lack is politically aware religious leadership, which accorded them dignity. CPI (M) is disassociating with PDP, which was a thorn and with the impending sunset in Pinarayi Vijayan’s political career, CPI (M) mind can not forget that they are also Hindus. There is a serious rift developing between the Communist cadres and the Jihadists. They had a clash in Nadapuram, which is still going on for the third or fourth day. It is high time Hindus seriously considered Unity and brought this violence under control.

It is irresponsible for BJP to field a candidate in Kanur assembly constituency against EP Jayarajan who is not an anti Hindu fanatic, but a responsible individual even though he is a CPI (M) candidate. In that constituency, the percentage of BJP’s vote share was (2006 – 4.64), (2001 – 3.87), (1996 – 4.85), and less than 5% in other elections. BJP fielding a candidate will only help an anti Hindu coalition candidate to win. Prudent minds should chose lesser of the evils. Instead of fielding a candidate, BJP would do well to campaign against the anti Hindu Coalition candidate even if it meant helping CPI (M) win the election. This will begin a new era of peace between BJP and CPI (M) workers and political tranquility in that District. It may not help the ego of BJP leaders, but it will save many young lives and tears of many poor families. Does anyone care for the lives of young people?
