"Group of concerned citizens" interfering with judicial and law enforcement matters

India is a complex society. Integrating that society is not an easy task. Public opinion has a definite role in integrating social behavior. Media also has a role and responsibility in this context. Judiciary and law enforcement agencies have a superior role, because they have knowledge and experience in matters related to social conditions, social transformation, individual behavior of people and group behavior of individuals in the society. Societies with common objective, in which individuals and groups with definite knowledge in their allotted fields perform their role, function without conflict.

Challenges arise when various groups in the society have a variety of objectives. If Hindus, Christians and Muslims have common objectives social tensions prevalent today would not have arisen. Common objectives of mankind are to live their lives and take care of their families. That objective is achieved when people coexist peacefully honoring other principles governing social life, such as economics, division of labor, mutual respect for the rights of each other and defending the society from outside intervention. While people who follow native philosophy traditionally enforced their superior social dignity on others, people who follow foreign religions claimed superiority of their philosophy over the native philosophy and sought to convert. In all these contexts, what is involved is acquisition of wealth by conquest of territories, social control and economic exploitation by indirect and psychological slavery. While upper cast Hindus enforced these objectives by using psychological means, Christians does it by connivance and prejudice and Muslims, by physical violence, massacre, enslavement, conversion and genetic expansion by violence on women.

In such a situation governments and political leaders fail when they do not formulate laws which guarantee individual and group freedom and enforce those laws so that societal piece is guaranteed. The most important laws in India are the Indian Constitution, Indian Penal Code, and the Indian Contract Act. Although these laws apply uniformly on every community, there are exceptions which allow loopholes to meet the needs of every community. There are also abundant ambiguity which enable allow half baked, political and socio economically prejudiced people to interpret in their own ways. Then there are technicalities which the bureaucrats could use to meet their interpretation. There is no problem if these interpretations are honest. Are they honest in all situations?

Then there are outside groups known as “concerned citizens group,” “human rights group,” “group of eminent citizens,” etc who use their clout to influence public opinion and public policy. The qualifications these groups possess are that, they make a good living, that they believe they have gained public acceptance and that they have the gift of the gab which enable them to run their mouth on any subject under the Sun. They are the self appointed guardians of the neglected sections of the society against the tyranny of the state or of the powerful. They assume they have the talent in every walk of life. However, one wonders what qualifications do people who identify themselves as “Developmental professional,” “Journalist,” “Professor of Chemistry,” “English Professor,” “Software Engineer,” “Film Critic,” “Dalit Activists,” etc have to interfere with the decisions and actions of judiciary and law enforcement agencies in their dealings with complex religious, social, political, economic and community law administration matters? Are they also familiar with matters of national security, inter faith conflicts, international issues and various other social problems in India? Beats me!
