I read a report that the government is planning to reduce the number of troops in Jammu and Kashmir by 15,000 men. That means, an equal percentage of weapons, arms and ammunitions will also be reduced. Such a step is incompetent and irresponsible and will drastically affect national security. The Defense Ministry’s decision is at such a time when Pakistan is going all out to expand their military and their presence in our border with them. Taliban also is poised to expand its activity in Jammu and Kashmir. The fact is that the more we loosen our grip on them, the more they tighten it. Government’s understanding of the minority’s philosophy is illogical, insensitive and lacks sense. Systematically it is reducing our ability to defend our nation. At the same time, the ruling party leaders and bureaucrats are faking accomplishments to mislead Indian people. The Defense Ministry has acknowledged the fact that it is short of over 22,000 officers in the Army. There is a shortage of 11,000 IPS officers. There is a shortage of at least 150 fighter aircrafts. Scientists associated with nuclear explosion makes belated claim that the experiment was a fizzle and that it did not produce the yield claimed. Defense officials and the Minister keep making irresponsible claims of national defense preparedness. Is there anyone in control of this government? How would the government handle it when the real thing hits us?
