Muslims are not happy in spite of the appeasement by CPI (M) lead Kerala government (Part I)
Recently there has been a violent gathering in Kasargode town of the Kasargode District in Kerala State. The District has a predominantly Hindu population. It has about 15% Muslim population. Kasargode town has a larger percentage of Muslim population and always that town has witnessed violence perpetrated by the Muslim Community. The Muslim League is always aligned with the Congress. There is no Congress without Muslim League and there is no Muslim League without Congress. They had managed to get two Muslim League candidates elected from Manjeshwar and Kasargode Constituencies despite that the Muslim population in those constituencies had never been more than 25%. With the vote bank politics of Christian Muslim combination, the Congress managed to install these Muslim League candidates all the time. The division of votes in these constituencies gets evenly distributed among BJP, CPI (M) and the Congress supported Muslim League. During the last election, the Congress party put up a Muslim female candidate in a Constituency in which 80% voters are Hindus. She lost despite the fact that the BJP candidate took a large share of the votes polled, almost making it difficult for the CPI (M) candidate to win. Yet he won.
The town had witnessed numerous clashes between the volunteers of RSS and the CPI (M). Many RSS workers got injured I the past. Now the situation has turned. Since the last Legistlative Assembly election, in which two Marxist candidates won from Manjeshwaram and Kasargode, CPI (M) and Muslim League are no longer seeing eyes to eyes. Several reports of clash between young people belonging to that party have been reported. One such clash took place last week in Kasargode town. Young Muslim League workers pulled down BJP and CPI (M) flags, vandalized; looted and destroyed Hindu owned businesses and beat up CPI (M) workers. The occasion was the visit of Muslim League leaders who are the patriarchs of the Muslim community in Kerala.
The ensuing violence, the objective of which was to drive away Hindu owned retail businesses to enable Muslim owned monopoly in that town. This is the beginning stage of ethnic cleansing which the Muslims all over India resort to spread their religion and territorial expansion. The gathering became violent and the police could not control the crowd. They resorted to “lathi charge.” Even lathi charge failed and the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd. The Superintendent of Police in that town was attacked by the violent Muslim mob. When he found that his life was in danger, the officer fired and one Muslim attacker was killed. Muslim League leaders insist that what happened were a political issue and not a social issue. In other words they claim that Muslims are always friends of Hindus. It is the BJP, RSS or CPI (M) making the trouble. Congress party leaders promptly called for a judicial investigation and sent one of its new political associates to the town to evaluate the issue, analyze the incident, identify the culprit and recommend measures. Here comes the maestro named Veerendra Kumar, former MP.
The gentleman is a political leader in Kerala who is also has a big clout in news reporting in Kerala. The man’s political party, ideology, journalistic philosophy and tongue took completely opposite turn when his associates, the leftist parties refused to put him on a ticket with them, which he always had. He was an ardent leftist as long he was allocated a seat in the Kozhikode Lok Sabha constituency. He probably, would have won if the LDF had put up his candidacy, but the LDF king maker had his own Muslim candidate. Their party lost. Displeased by the snub, the man joined the Congress led UDF along with his tiny party. Now he is the mouth piece and advertising tool of Muslim League. I had great respect for the gentleman, until I read his findings and recommendations about the Kasargode violence. (Read Part II)
