Taliban, Pakistan and India
I read Dr. Rao’s thought provoking essay on Pakistan and its self created trap. I would like to add my thoughts and some related statistics.
37.2% of Pakistani population is under the age of 14. Only 4.2% are above the age of 65 years. Almost 50% of its population is under 20 years. Pakistan’s literacy rate is less than 50%. Two out of three women in that country are illiterate. Average school life of Pakistani children is less than 7 years. It spends 2.6% of its GDP on education and more than 3% on defense. Its educated people have several times better standard of living than average people. Pakistan’s future is inalienably linked with Taliban philosophy. Within a decade it will be a Taliban country. Then the Pakistani army will be bearded and wearing Taliban uniform. Pakistani defense equipment, including nuclear warheads will be in the hands of that army. People of India have more to be concerned with the expansion of Taliban in Pakistan than the people of Pakistan. When the Taliban rules Pakistan, Islamic militancy in India will expand to an uncontrollable level. India will slowly and gradually be governed by Islamic law. There will be no control on “love jihad” or forced conversion. Someone in Aligarh Muslim University wondered if India could have a Muslim Prime Minister! I say, no, never! India will have a Badshah and multiple Sultans. It was not hard for Raul to become Rahul. It would not be hard for Rahul to become Rasul either.
