Karnataka poll results a reflection of UPA's performance: Karat

CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat said that the
result of Karnataka Assembly poll was a reflection of the loss of
credibility of the Congress party as well as the UPA Government's
performance at the Centre.

"The Centre's policies, particularly
with regard to price rise and the crisis in agriculture sector has
created resentment among the people who have rejected the Congress,"
said Karat.

He is in Kolkata to attend the CPI-M West Bengal State Committee meeting, told party organ "Ganashakti".

Stating
that the BJP had succeeded in weakening the secular forces in
Karnataka, karat said that the saffron party had long been putting
efforts to polarise the people on communal lines.

BJP, he said,
has reaped the benefits of its opportunistic alliance with JD(S) in the
previous government. Its win was a warning to secular political parties
who sought to reach an understanding with it for forming the government.

BJP
has been able to form the government in a south Indian state on its own
after securing 50 percent seats in the assembly, he added. (ANI)
