Nepalese convert to Islam for work
More and more Nepalese emigrants who have gone to Muslim majority countries to work - for example, on the Arabian Peninsula - are abandoning their Hindu religion and embracing Islam in order to improve their economic and social situation.
According to figures from the Nepalese workers' union, in Qatar alone there have been about 2,000 cases of conversion, plus 4,000 in Saudi Arabia, the Arab emirates, and Malaysia.
Rita Tamang, who emigrated to Saudi Arabia two years ago from the Nepalese district of Dhulikhel, explains that "Muslims get privileges with better work and good pay. The workers from other religions are hardly trusted by private employers. So, I myself also adopted Islam, giving up Hinduism." It's the same story for Manoj Karki, who left Kathmandu to go to work on an oil rig in Qatar. "I was hardly managing to save money from my salary, but since I have changed my religion to Islam, I am now more safe, comfortable, and with easy access to jobs.” His wife, who works as a maid in Doha, followed her husband's example: “My husband converted to Islam and he advised me to do the same, so I did."
On the basis of numbers provided by the Nepalese workers' union, and under pressure from the complaints of immigrants and their relatives in Nepal, the foreign minister in Kathmandu has decided to take measures to stop the wave of conversions. Upendra Mahato says he has "instructed our diplomatic missions to probe the cases and stop such conversions if they come through pressure or by force."
According to estimates by the Nonresidential Nepalese Association, of the almost 7 million citizens of the Asian country who are working abroad, more than 400,000 are in the Gulf region. Of the 55 countries in which Nepalese immigrants are living, the most common destinations for those seeking work are Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, both Muslim majority countries.
By sending part of their earnings back home, emigrants represent one of the main sources of income for Nepal.

02/02/2009 07:37:17 This is nothing , real threat is from christian prayer groups !
For all the readers information, Conversion activities in these Muslim countries are aggressively executing by christians.
Christian sabhas with their different prayer groups and individuals are hardly trying to use the job problems / visa problems of Hindus and converting them to Christianity. In Kuwait this can be openly visible. Christian Prayer groups are doing everything to attract more and more people to their prayers and using poor labours with all possible ways.
An Example : One Senior Foreman of Bader Al Mulla Company (Name : Mathew Thomas) is using his position and prayer group to convert and attract more people to his group.
He and his colleagues of prayer group are asking workers of the contractors, technicians to participate for their prayer. Those are not willing to participate will not get contract work or increment with in the company. Because he is the guy from his Electrical section to iniate the increment recomendations to technicians.
This kind of open activities are visible in Kuwait and other middle east countries. The above individual prayer group organizer is only one example.
When ever they are pressurising the employees and persons who are facing visa problems etc. with helping offer they are forgeting that, they are came from a Hindu majority country and the strength of Hindus in India. They don't fear about a Hindu back lash on them when ever they comes back and settle in India ! Because, Keralite Hindus are more "Secular" and "Peace loving people" !

02/02/2009 00:17:45 Adapt God's message in real life
Ganapathyji, milleniums ago, a powerfull section of hindu society twisted the message of Lord Krishna to suit their purpose i.e. to exploit the vast majority of illiterate poor people for the former's easy living and it still continues. That is the reason why hindus continue to be slaves of Muslims and Christians everywhere. God said individuals should be judged based on gunas (their thought, word and action based on satvik, rajasik & tamasic gunas) but this powerfull lobby continues to treat people based on their birth which is irrational and nonsense. Until and unless hindus understand God's message in its true spirit there is no way they can escape the vicious circle hindus created for themselves. There is no point blaming others.

01/02/2009 09:21:35 Rampant Conversion
Nepalese converting to Islam for a living is very rampant in Qatar, Saudi and Kuwait. These governments have specific programs and institutions targetting poor and impoverished Nepalese. We have already lost the state of Nepal. And the Arabs have big designs targetting Nepalese to further weaken India in every sense.
