Allahabad, June 23 (PTI) The VHP today sought to
distance itself from the Shiv Sena's "Hindu suicide squads" theory and
said "terror can never be fought through terror". "Anger cannot be
quelled through anger is a cherished Hindu belief and this also implies
that terror can never be fought through terror.
Hence, we do not
support the idea of Hindu suicide squads for combating Islamic
extremism," VHP chief Ashok Singhal told reporters at his residence
here. In a recent article published in its mouthpiece "Saamna", Shiv
Sena said there was a need for "Hindu suicide squads" to ensure
security for the community.
Singhal also said he did "not attach
much importance" to BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani's
"new-found commitment towards the cause of Ram Janmabhoomi", as it was
aimed at winning over Hindu votes in the coming general elections. He,
however, warned political parties against "playing with Hindu
sentiments" and said the community was ready to protect its interests
"from political opportunism".
Referring to the recent unrest in
Mumbai involving followers of Dera Sacha Sauda, Singhal described
Gurmit Singh Ram Rahim as "a fraud patronised by Christian missionaries
to carry out anti-Hindu and anti-Sikh activities" and that he was
trying to mislead people by calling himself a friend of the Sangh
Parivar. PTI.

Agree with Singhalji. We
Agree with Singhalji.
We need to send the same message to Ashok Sahu of Orissa too.
His talks are suicidal. He does not seem to be a party to our cherished belief: anger cannot quell anger. It may be detrimental to the saturation of our ideologies in the region.
