TRAVANCORE DEWASWAM BOARD'S NEW RECIPE TO 'SWALLOW TEMPLE'

Adv. M.Rajagopalan Nair, President of the Travancore Devaswam Board has appointed his own Junior Adv. G.Biju to look after Devaswam cases; and asked the current lawyers to transfer all the cases to him.

When you appoint the lawyer that is your Junior in your own law firm, to deal with all the cases of the Devaswam of which you are President, it does not look okay. It would be okay if you own the Devaswam as you might do your own Estate or Company. Can you be lawyer and President of the Devaswam simultaneously?

The type of cases that the new junior lawyer has been given are cases against the Devaswam by contractors, employees and encroachers of Devaswam land. That government lawyers collude with the opposite parties and get the government to lose cases, is an old complaint in Kerala.

On 24th May, 2011, the Kerala Catholic Church came out with their latest bloomer when they whined that the Social Science textbook of Standard X classes contained untruths derogatory to the Church. They have asked Kerala’s Christian state government to withdraw the thousands of printed textbooks and issue new ones.

Their objection is to the Chapter ‘Aadhunika lokathinte Udayam’ [Dawn of the modern world] in which mention is made of the intellectual and social repression in Europe by the RCC in the middle ages. They protest strongly against the passage that says that the Church was a feudal power oppressing the poor; and that clerical abuses included sale of ‘indulgences’ or pardon of sins, for money.

RARE AYYAPPASWAMI BOOK RE-PUBLISHED

Sree Bhoothanaathopakhyaanam was the first ever work to be printed about Ayyappa Swami in any language.

Published in 1929, this Malayalam Kilippaattu brought the story of Ayyappa to popular attention for the first time in literature. It is from this work that the traditions and procedures of the pilgrimage came to be followed.

The author Kallaraykkal Krishnan Kartha died in the late 1930s and the book was not available in print after 1947.

The Ayyappa Documentation Project of the Sabari Sharanasramam Trust followed the book up and managed to obtain a copy of the 1947 edition. The book is now reprinted by them and copies are again available for the first time after 1947.

Banks' misusing Securitisation Act

The global economic meltdown began when housing financiers in the USA
started indiscriminately cracking down on borrowers. This was later on
named the Housing Tsunami. If we are not be similarly placed in the
near future when no one might be looking, our ways in these matters
need changes of motives and procedures.

I recently came across HDFC, the largest private housing financiers in
India advertising that their Cochin office had taken over some
properties for non-repayment. The majority of the cases had total
outstanding balances of less than Rs. 1.75 lakhs, to read from the
advertisements. Considering that even a Cent of housing property in
Ernakulam district is worth more than Rs. 2 lakhs, this seemed to be
over enthusiasm for some reason on the part of the lenders.

The Vatican Radio describes itself as 'The voice of the Pope and the Church'.  However, the following piece from the Vatican Radio is blatant untruth. This means that the Pope is untruthful, the Radio being his Voice. The Pope 'says' here that a nun was burnt alive.
