ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL USE OF BULL POWER - A STUDY

There are more than 50lakhs He cows
and He Buffalo in Karnataka. General
feeling is that they are non economical and are burden on economy as a cow
consumes fodder costing app. Rs. 10/-ie, RS 3500/- in a year. They are being
sold to slaughter houses for about RS.1000/-each. A butcher gets more than
RS.7000/- in terms of beef, leather, blood, bones and other ingredients cattle
has life span of 15 years and gives leather, bones and Horns etc worth Rs
1000/- even after it’s normal death In fact, we do not calculate the bull power
and GOBRA & GOMUTRA it generate every day. We will discuss in following
lines about the same.

Our late Prime Minister Smt.IndiraGandhi mentioned in COLOMBO Conference that 6 Bulls are
equivalent to one tractor
, We may not have millions of tractor but we do
have millions of bulls.

She was right but in practical, we
have even forgotten the traditional use of bulls in our rural economy and
remembered the Bull pair as Party Symbol which was replaced by non
other than Cow & Calf.

In olden days, Cultivation, water
lifting, Crop thrashing, Oil extraction, Human and goods carriage were
dependent on Bull power and Bio Compost was the source of fertilizing the
fields. Today cultivation needs Tractor-water lifting needs Bore well-Crop
thrashing needs Thrasher Combines, Oil extraction needs Expellers and 4-wheel
Automobile is needed for transport.
Synthetic fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides, Micro nutrients have
replaced Bio Compost.

Result is dependent economy,
foreign loans, heavy burden of subsidies on exchequer, increase in pollution,
rural unemployment
, weak community, spread of unknown diseases etc.

Remedy is not the slaughter but to
exploit the
BULL
POWER
.

Undersigned’s visit to china was a
eye opener. When he asked one of his host industrialist that why they are not
using Furnace oil, the reply came that we have COAL and manpower so where ever
we can, we use coal only. Same reply came for man power that yes we import
prototypes from Europe or USA
but first thing we do that to reduce the sophistication to use more man power.
We have to think in the same direction i.e. wherever we can use BULL POWER we
must use the same. Some of the examples other than traditional one are here as
under:

  • Bio GAS.
  • Power generation
  • Inter District Transportation
  • Irrigation and Drinking water supply
  • Fodder Cutting
  • Flour & Spice grinding
  • Bio Compost & Bio REPELLANT

A Composite unit with 120 Bulls and
25 workers is discussed here:

Assumptions:

1) Two Bulls can pull the cart with
2,000 KGS load

2) Bull speed is 8/10 KM per hour
and it can cover 25/30 KMS distance at a stretch.

3) Each Bull generates 10 to 15 kgs
of GOBRA per day.

4) A truck costs app. 20.00 lakhs
and is a pollution creating machine where as Bull cart will cost app. 15,000/-

5) we are discussing MYSORE-BANGLORE
stretch, but it can be tried any where. Mysore
is 140 KMS from Bangalore.
There is regular, daily goods traffic from both ends. Normally Turks are
operating and goods traffic from both office.

6) Freight charges are app. RS. 600/- per MT & Matador charges are app.2,000/- to 2,500/-
for 2MT.

WORKING: 6 stop point shall be developed
from Mysore to Bangalore with a distance of 25 to 30 KMS
preferably in rural vicinity. At each stop 10 pairs of bull are to be kept.
Say, Consignment started from Mysore
at 7AM will reach near Mandya at 10AM.Bull pair will be changed and same cart
will proceed to Maddur. Here Bull pair
will be changed and in the same way at Ramangram and Bidari. Material will be
delivered at Bangalore.
Same way Bull cart will start from Bangalore to Mysore and change the Bull pair at Bidari, Ramanagaram,
Maddur, Mandya &will reach Mysore.
At stop points, Gobra collected from Bull pairs will be used first to generate
Biogas and then to manufacture wormy compost.

Dear friends,

Above are suggestive data. We request your valuable expert
opinion and guidance on the above study. If, profit will be even 25% in
comparison to our above calculation will it not be much more than any good Industry, Rural
employment generation tool, saving of National wealth apart from addressing most Heart Burning problem of the day “ increase
in Crud oil price from $.2/-(RS.86) per barrel to $140/- (RS. 6,000/-) and
expected crossing $.200 (RS.8,600/- per barrel).

BULL POWER

Kind Attn.:- Dr. SK Mittal

Dear sir,

Some more points.

1.Speed may not be 8 to 10km/hr and for 2 to 3 hrs may be
difficult.

2.Start point will become end point by a return trip.
Hence total load movement will be 40 (Mysore to
Bangalore) and another 40 In return to Mysore. So total
income can be 28,800-00 x 2 =57600 and the expenditure
mostly remains same.

3.So the stop points will be 10 so that each pair will
work for 4 to 5 hours per day only.

4.Please refine the appropriate prices of Bulls and the
carts.

5.Please send it to print media so that our brothers get
awareness.

6.This is very important for some other locations where
there is no proper road network.

7.If not for an investor to star a company with 120 Bulls
and many carts.A set of people form each point on the way
can form an organization, for even a lesser traffic or
Rs.50000 x 10 days/month / 60 formers = Rs.8000 /
month / former.

8.If Sangh takes a step to wards organizing an office for
putting the things in line it will be a great thing.

Once again i am requesting you to send this to a print media for further actions.

Srinivasa Reddy.
