It is almost certain that the readers of this page have never been inside of a rocket launched towards the space. But very probably they have all desired to do so. Haven’t you?

For a lot of less fortunate elderly of our society – in their 80’s, 70’s or even 60’s – a car on the road is just as far away, just as inaccessible. They have never been into a car; never seen the inside of it. The difference, however, is that while a rocket for both of us is completely unaffordable, a car entirely is. And we have the power to make the difference. If only we care!

SPRAT organizes what it dares to call as JoyRides every week in Ahmedabad city, usually on Tuesdays. It borrows a few AC cars from executives, industrialists and other car keepers, duly fuelled and with a driver, for 5-6 hours. It then takes the elderly from various slums of the city around, in a convoy, on a conducted tour of Gandhi Ashram, S.G. Highway, C.G.Road, Ashram road, a glittering mall etc, perhaps breaking for a cup of tea on the way. JoyRiders are then dropped at their hutments with thanks for giving us the honor of serving them.
