Economic interest in the recent decades have become a dominant factor in more and more peoples life. HIndu sentiments are more influenced by economic factors than by religios factors, by and large, contrary to the muslims sentiments which still gives priority to religion. Both these conditions have their benefits and shortcommings. Hindus are gaining economic properity at the cost of tradition while muslims are becoming more united and religious but loosing in terms on ecomnomic grounds. It is therfore a challenge to use economic interests to promote religion and unity amongst Hindus. We have to adopt means to use economic interests of masses - especially rural people to promote nationalism and unity amongst Hindus. An average hindu is preoccupied with problems related to economic / financial condition and will be encouraged to join the movement for nationalism / hinduism if his economic needs are also benifited by his participation. Promotion of Self help groups (SHG's) is an ideal tool to encourage participation of masses in the movement to promote Hindu Nationalism. The Sangh Parivar is already involved in such activities. We must deliberate to find more effective means of using SHG's in rural India.
