What is Nationality ?
I am involved in social project in an area with many different religious and linguistic groups. Every group has a different political affiliation, and have different programs. We are facing herculean task to get through the project activities. Recently we had a visitor from a south American country who had successfully completed similar type of program in his country. When he saw situation that we were facing he commented what he did was childs play compared with what we were facing in India.
In the discussion following the visit, I could see that as theirs was a homogeneous society, the project did not pose any difficult management challenges. Also there was a strong sense of belongingness between social activists working on the project and the people.
This discussion has raised some serious questions in my mind whether "Unity in Diversity" is really good for the Indian society? Have we made a blunder by creating a false sense of Indian Nationality which in fact do not exist? We create expectations by claiming that all Indians belong to single Nationality and then get hurt when we find that there is lot of descrimination based on language and religion & nurse hatread ? What is Nationality ?
From the definition given in dictionary it is identity of a large group of people based on religion, language, race and shared history with political power.
I also think an important characteristic of Nationality which is also sense of belongingness, which also indicative of Nationality.
Considering all these points can we say that people of every linguistic state are different Nationality?
Please discuss..

I think Indians are one
I think Indians are one nationality, and in long time hindi should be the uniting language of the indian subcontinent.
