Florida Vedic College (FVC) was founded in 1990 as the College Division of the Institute for Gaudiya Vaishnavism, Inc. which is registered with the State of Florida as a non-profit Religious Institution. The Institute for Gaudiya Vaishnavism is a Vaishnava Institution and part of the worldwide Hindu Religious Tradition.

In October 2002, during a meet of activists of the 'Parivartanvadi Vichaar Manch', Hindu deities were blasphemously criticized. One Hindu strongly objected to their deplorable act. With a view to protest against this attack, all Hindu organizations came together and the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) was established on the 13th October 2002 by initiative of seekers of Sanatan Sanstha. It was decided that any Hindu, irrespective of the organization, sect etc. he/she belongs to can become member of HJS. Thus HJS stands as a common platform for all Hindus to unite breaking all the barriers.
