Narendra Modi Voices Against Social Media Censorship

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has voiced his dissent against the recent social media censorship implemented by the government of India. ” Join the protest against crackdown on freedom of speech”, he told via Twitter. Modi further went on to affirm his support by blackening his DP(display picture) there by joining the protest against the act of the Government.

Narendra Modi added his tweet to the ongoing Twitter campaign with #GOIBlocks hashtag.

Many website urls, Facebook profiles, Youtube videos & Twitter accounts, including those belonging to senior journalists and right wing activists were blocked by Government of India.

The decision taken by the government is being opposed by BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders alike. “Many Twitter blockings were without any rhyme or reason. So brazen that no law was cited either!”, said RSS leader Ram Madhav. He added that this act will soon be challenged in courts.
