Officially India’s population crossed the one billion mark last week. It may be remembered that some UN agency had unilaterally declared that this landmark was recahed last Agust. Of course, they made it very conveniently coincincide with the 15th August. The story was fist taken-up by the New York Times - and of course the whole of the foreign correspondents’ corps, which is affliected by what the French call “mouton, de Panurge” instinct - which means that the whole herd follows the herd leader; even if it jumps from the cliff - followed suit. And all the major European newspapers, including France’s Figaro (I was holidaying in Almora to the displeasure of my editor) Le Monde, and Libéraion did full page stories on how “India already poor and aflicted with debilitating problems (corruption the unibiquous caste systeml French love to talk about etc) had even more mouths to feed.

What Is It To Be An Indian Abroad Today ?

San Francisco. What is it to be an Indian today? What is meant by Indian-ness ? What is it to be an Indian abroad - in the United States, for instance ? How much of yourself do you give to your American identity – and how much space do you preserve for your Indian-ness ? These are the questions that Indian expatriates should ask themselves today. For we see many of the children of Indians who settled in the US twenty or thirty years ago, merge themselves totally in the American way of life, speak with an American accent, eat Mac Donald, think American… and in the process forget all about their wonderful Indian culture…

The West has lost the truth. We have lost the Great Sense, the meaning of our evolution, of why so much suffering, why dying, why getting born, why this earth, who are we, what is the soul, what is reincarnation, where is the ultimate truth about the universe... But India has kept this truth. India has preserved it through seven millennium of pitfalls, of genocides and attempts at throttling her santanam dharma. And this will be India's gift to this planet during the next century: to restore to the world its true sense. to recharge humanity with the real meaning and spirit of life. India will become the spiritual leader of the world, as India’s Great Sage, Sri Aurobindo, had predicted nearly a century ago :

Mukherjee Commission Reports should be brought to light – Sarsanghchalak

New Delhi:RSS Sarsanghchalak K.S. Sudarshan asked the central govt. to reveal the Mukherjee Commission’s report which enquired into the mysterious missing of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. It should be tabled in the Parliament immediately. He was delivering the inaugural address of the 18 months long jubilee celebrations of the freedom struggle of 1857. The findings of the Commission still remain a mystery. Two Indian Ambassadors to Russia had disclosed that they had seen Nethaji in Russian jail. One of them had got very good rapport with Nehru. Later on Nethaji came back and lived near Ayodhya assuming the name “Gumnabi Baba’. Sudarshan said that he died in 1985. Forensic reports say that Baba’s handwriting had resemblance with that of Nethaji. It was NDA govt. that appointed Mukherjee Commission. It was due to the mystery that prevailed about the 1945 plain crash that the Commission was appointed.

RSS to commemorate 1857 anniversary separately

New Delhi, May 8 : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will hold its own function on May 13 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the 1857 revolt. The celebrations, being held separately, assume political significance because the RSS and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have not been invited to the official function being held at Red Fort here May 11. BJP parliamentary party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said: "They have not invited the BJP saying that we never participated in the freedom movement. This way you should not have invited the Communists also." The invitees to the function, which will be addressed by RSS chief K.C. Sudarshan, are all RSS outfits. These include Rashtravadi Muslim Morcha, Puru Sainik Seva Parishad, Rashtriya Sikh Sangat and Bharat Tibet Parivar. Syed Shahnawaz Husain, convenor of the Muslim Morcha, is the only BJP leader invited to the celebration, party sources said. --- IANS

Shri Guruji birth centenary celebrations in UK

Sangh meet turns out a grand Hindu Sangam

In an event that was every bit as unique as Guruji’s life, ten Hindu organisations came together to jointly host and celebrate Shri Guruji’s life and mission at Advait Cultural Centre, Forty Lane, Wembley (UK), on April 12. Another unique feature of the event was that the audience consisted largely of the leaders of various Hindu organisations in the UK. Leaders of Shri Kutch Satsang, Swaminarayan Mandir, National Council of Hindu Temples, Hindu Forum of Britain, ISKCON-Bhaktivedanta Manor, Hindu Council of UK, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (UK), Singh Sabha Gurudwara-Southall, National Congress of Gujarati Organisations (UK) and Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK) spoke after one another on the qualities and contribution that Shri Guruji had made.
