'Islam is not a slave'

Syed Ali Shah Geelani is perhaps the most polarising figure in contemporary Kashmir. In his many avatars as Jamaat-e-Islami member, Hizbul Mujahideen's political face and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat's hawk, the octogenarian, bearded leader has led mammoth rallies, courted countless arrests and penned several books, including a passionate prison diary. On August 15 this year, Geelani donned the garb of Islam's saviour and declared to an azadi-chanting, green-flag waving crowd at Srinagar's Lal Chowk: "Our goal is azadi baraa-e-Islam (freedom for Islam)."

The media, constantly on the lookout for soundbites, moved to the separatists' other engagements in the day, ignoring the import of Geelani's new diktat and its fathomless falsity. In a single stroke, the Hurriyat hawk had coated his territorial battle with an Islamic flavour. Like Pakistan's founding father, the frail Mohammed Ali Jinnah in the tumultuous 1940s, Geelani has again tried to stoke a disturbing, though somewhat dormant, debate: "Is Islam incompatible with a secular society and must a Muslim majority live only in an Islamic state?"

The chant of "freedom for Islam" is actually a gross misinterpretation of a faith which unambiguously calls God "Rabul Almeen (lord of the universe)" and Prophet Mohammed "Rahmatul Almeen (blessing for universe)". "Like the Hindutva hardliners hinduised the Shrine Board for Amarnath yatris, Geelani has used a political slogan to provide the separatist movement with a pan-Islamic colour. Muslims might have been enslaved or free in the last 1,400 years, but Islam has never been a slave to anyone. Since it's not a slave, it doesn't need to be freed," says Islamic scholar Asghar Ali Engineer. "Islam is democratic in spirit and has no conflict with secular, composite nationalism, an idea that the likes of Geelani vehemently oppose."

In Geelani's warped views, all Muslims must strive for and live in an Islamic state. "It's as difficult for a Muslim to live in a non-Muslim society as it is for a fish to live in a desert," writes Geelani in Rudad-e-Qaf, his prison memoir. Bangalore-based Islamic scholar Yoginder Sikand, who has written extensively on Kashmir's composite culture, met Geelani a few months ago in Srinagar. "When I asked him to explain his theory of Muslims' discomfort in a non-Muslim society, he said that it was ordained by the Quran. If the separatists succeed, Kashmir will turn into another Talibanised Afghanistan," says Sikand.

How will an Islamised Kashmir, if it becomes a reality at all, look? To find that, don't look beyond Asia Andrabi, the leader of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of Islam), who dictates head-to-toe hijab, issues fatwas against music and favours "covering" the women who dare to bare, preferably by sprinkling paint on them.

Geelani's ideological guru, Maulana Abul-Ala Maududi, Jamaat-e-Islami's founder, sought the idea of an Islamic state in a Quranic verse which says that if given power in the land, Muslims should establish salat (worship) and zakat (charity) and enjoin virtue and forbid evil. Maududi interpreted it as God's command to establish an Islamic state which needed to enforce the eradication of vice like adultery, drinking, gambling, vulgar songs, immoral display of beauty, promiscuous mingling of men and women, co-education and so on.

"Pakistan's original idea of establishing an Islamic state was never realised. Yes, Pakistan has a city called Islamabad, but true Islam remains in India," claims Akhtarul Wasey, who teaches Islamic Studies at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia. "The Prophet proved Muslims could co-exist with non-Muslims through the Covenant of Medina he signed with the Jews. Both the Jews and the Muslims became citizens of Medina with their separate identities."

Wasey's argument on the inclusivist nature of real Islam is backed by historical truth. Wahhabism, a revivalist, puritanical movement, expounded by Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahbab in 1740s in today's Saudi Arabia, lost its exclusivist edge once it hit the shores of multicultural India. Darul Uloom Deoband, the Islamic seminary which traces its origins to the wave of Wahhabism, eschewed fanaticism when it met the tolerant, spiritual Sufi influences in India. Jamiatul Ulema-e-Hind, Darul Uloom Deoband's extension, which fought the British Raj, opposed the Muslim League's "two-nation" theory. Jamiat's stalwart Maulana Hussain Ahmad Madni, under fire from some misguided maulvis of the League, had to explain his advocacy of composite nationalism in a book called Muttahda Qaumiat Aur Islam (Composite Culture and Islam). Madni was hauled over the coals, yet he didn't budge from his stand.

The idea of an Islamic state did not attract even the venerable Maulana Abul Kalam Azad though his zeal for Islam was unmatched. Born in Mecca and trained in Arabic and Islam studies before his family migrated to Calcutta, the erudite Azad celebrated Islam's inclusivism in an 1913 essay: "It is the Muslims' duty to serve humanity...Every part of God's land is sacred, and all inhabitants of the land are dear to them." At another place, Azad declares that God's land cannot be compartmentalised into pak (pure) and na-pak (impure).

The Kashmiri youth who dance to the tune of "Teri jaan meri jaan, Pakistan, Pakistan" would do well to take time off from Geelani's harangues and read Islam in its right context.

'Haroon'dhathi Roy!

Anti-National, Anti-Human, Anti-Hindu, Pro-Terrorist activist and noted writer(!) Arundhathi Roy has called for the liberation of Kashmir from the 'illegal' occupation of INDIA!

We all know how this same anti-Human celebrity defended Mohd. Afzal, who has been awarded death sentence by the Supreme Court, which, very unfortunate to say, is usually a Pro-Minority institution like Parliament/legislature, Administration, Media, et al.

As one reader rightly pointed out in the TimesOfIndia.com site, let our country become a (so-called) 'Communist' China and she should be kicked out of the nation.

Arundhathi Roy, Shabhana Azmi, Medha Patkar, Mallika Sarabhai, Nandita Das, and other Five Star-Hotel proz's, should be kicket out of Bharath, for their anti-Hindu activities and propaganda's.

Let's educate all the fellow Indians about these criminals and also others like Amartya Sen, Ramachandra Guha, Shashi Tharoor, blah blah blah....the list goes on.

P.S. This is my first blog in SanghParivar.org and feedback is welcomed and may be sent to bharat_aruns@yahoo.co.in

Best Regards, Arun Arun.

"All the things that I desire in this Universe are either illegal, expensive, banned, no longer exist or MARRIED TO SOMEONE ELSE:):):)"

on critical nuclear trade with India
in a draft circulated among member nations of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG)
and published by an arms control advocacy group.

The draft, published on the web
site of the US-based Arms Control Association (www.armscontrol.org), would
effectively lift a 34-year embargo on nuclear trade with India without tying the waiver to
explicit conditions for the Asian nuclear power.

Several NSG nations had said they
expected the exemption to identify events that would trigger a review, such as
an Indian nuclear bomb test or failure to allow wide-ranging inspections of its
nuclear facilities.

The draft states the NSG members
"have taken note of steps that India has taken voluntarily,"
including its unilateral moratorium on nuclear tests and its commitment to
allow inspections by the UN nuclear watchdog.

But it does not mention any
consequences or sanctions for the case that India does not adhere to those
measures.

The US draft was sent to NSG chair Germany on August 6 to forward it
to all of the 45 NSG members, according to ACA.

Serious
introspection is required by the defense authorities and the Indian government.
These are some issues that come to my mind:

The United
States proposal to waive restrictions on critical nuclear
trade with India
is a welcomed step forward, but at what cost? India has taken voluntarily
measures, including its unilateral moratorium on nuclear tests. I sincerely
hope our commitment to allow inspections by the UN nuclear watchdog does not
include our defense purpose nuclear plants.

Now, what happens if India has to
conduct a nuclear test for scientific purpose? Why doesn't the US draft say what will happen to this deal if India does not
adhere to those measures? Last but not the least, what will happen to our
Thorium based nuclear plants?

I wonder

I wonder?

Is this my Nation, where my brothers are killed by my brothers ? Is this the great Nation called India ? My Child is taught about Akbar and Aurangzeb but not about Krishna and Shiva? Is this a country or just a union of the impossibles ? Is this a nation where a Hindu will only be crumpled like a piece of thrash ? Are we not human ?Dont we have blood that can boil ? Nipunsakhs are we ? Is it that the roads of this country will shout corruption (with so many holes in them) ?

When will I be proud of my Country? When will I be proud of myself ?

I wonder and wonder and wonder as i look at a wonder called India, a wonder land, with astounding people, who have no right to live in thier own country ? I wonder what happened that a few Hindus can continue to be corrupt and tormment crores of Hindus? People are happy that Congress came in, No one talks about the Money that was exchanged. We are tolerant, tolerance is going to be our down fall .

Bomb Blasts:Does anybody care?

		Two
more terrorist attacks, a series of bomb blasts in two prosperous
cities, many people dead, many more injured and a grave national loss!
This has become a part and parcel of Indian life. The target shifts,
outfits involved in terrorism changes, but the impact remains same and
the intentions remain the same. This time the location was first
Bengaluru, the Garden City, an IT hub and, next, Ahmedabad, one of the
fastest developing cities of the country.

		In Bengaluru, low
intensity blasts took place in the afternoon of 25 July 2008 in which
at least two persons died and seven were injured. While the first seven
blasts took place between 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm. The eighth bomb blasted
at Hosaguddahalli near Gopalan Mall on Mysore road at about 5.30 pm and
the ninth blasted near the Army Engineering College on Mysore Road at
6.30 pm.

The Bengaluru Police has termed it as an act of terror.
The crude bombs, stuffed with nuts and bolts, exploded at Madiwala,
Adugodi, Nayandahalli, Pantharapalya and Vittal Mallya Road. Bengaluru
Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri said the blasts were of low intensity
and gelatine sticks were used. Preliminary investigations show that the
bombs were attached to a timer device and were triggered off by a
mobile phone.

On Saturday, 17 bombs exploded in Ahmedabad killing 45 people and injuring over 100. The death toll is constantly on the rise.

		All
bombs were reportedly planted on bicycles and went off within a time
span of 70 minutes — between 6:30 pm and 7:40 pm IST — in various parts
of the city.

Most of these blasts were reported from eastern
Ahmedabad, in the upper-middle-class dominated areas of Bapu Nagar,
Amraiwadi, Sarangpur, Jawahar Nagar, Narol Circle, Sarkhej, Isanpur and
Haksar.
The first bomb exploded at a bus stand Mani Nagar area
around 6:35 pm.There was a second blast, also in Mani Nagar, inside the
premises of LG Hospital. There was another blast in the premises of
Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital. Two blasts were reported soon after from
Sarkhej. While the first was in a city transport bus, the other was
reported from Sangam theatre. Soon after, there were two blasts in Bapu
Nagar — one outside the railway station, the other inside a bus.

		Minutes
before the blasts, the Intelligence Bureau and various media houses
received an e-mail from a little known group that called itself the
“Indian Mujahideen”, warning of an imminent attack. The e-mail said the
outfit’s intention was to cause panic and fight political groups that
were opposed to Islam. The mail read, 'We, the Indian Mujahideen, have
carried out attacks and will continue to do so. Stop us if you can.”

		A
live bomb was defused near a hospital and two cars stuffed with
explosives were found in and on the outskirts of Surat on Sunday,
sparking a high security alert in the diamond city. The car, bearing
the number plate GJ 6 CD 3569, was found laden with explosives in
Punagam area. The police have recovered some powder-like material,
gelatine sticks and shrapnel from the car, Police Inspector MR Chavda
said. Later, the police located another car with explosives at the
Heerabagh locality, Surat Police Commissioner R MS Brar informed.
Earlier, the police had found a live bomb near a hospital from the New
Citylight area of Surat after some residents informed the police about
it.

in the past, television, newspapers and all sources of media reported
the incident prominently in prime-time slots and front pages. But you
know, tomorrow some other ‘news’ will make them forget the ghastly
incidents. People have lost interest in what these journalists say;
they comment about the sad state of affairs and then forget it
accepting defeat in the hands of ‘fate’. Police carry out some
investigation, claim it to be the handiwork of the investigative agency
from across the border and move on! Either no one is arrested or no
arrest leads to a breakthrough in the investigation so that any
individual, group or country can be pinned down. Government and
politicians make speeches, some political parties say "terrorism has no
religion", ask the "majority to maintain calm" and the opposition says
"government is soft on terror"… All so very predictable!

	A
question must be asked: Is anybody concerned? Is anybody ready to see
the larger picture, so to speak? Is anybody doing anything to safeguard
ordinary citizens and the nation from terrorists?

	It seems
concerned citizens are a minority and are in no position to make any
substantive change in the Indian society, which is now full of those
who lust over money, sell their souls, and betray the nation. The rest
are bigmouthed non-performers who fancy being known as 'intellectuals'.
The third group is the biggest culprit: "I don’t care; it’s
commonplace," muse idiots. It’s high time for action. Those who are
concerned should chart out long-term and short-term strategies to fight
the menace.

Terrorism may not have a religion, but terrorists
do. Everybody knows that there is only one religion, thousands of whose
followers call for and subscribe to “global jihad”. Study any other
terrorist group (Maoists, LTTE, ULFA, etc), and you will find that
their recruits have not assembled under an umbrella in the name of
religion; what unites them is a political or an economic reason.
Besides, there co-religionists from different parts of the world do not
throng India or sneak into it to join them in the assault on this state.

	Therefore,
in the short term, if madrassahs, especially those along the Pakistan
and Bangladesh border, are monitored, it should help. It’s very
unfortunate that violence-free interpretations of the sacred texts of
Islam do not arouse the kind of passion in Muslim crowds that
violence-ridden rhetoric by Islamic fundamentalists do. It is true that
peaceful Muslims are more in number, but their lack of prominence as
anti-jihadis in the national scene does a tremendous disservice to the
whole community. “Islam means peace/welfare” and “we condemn terrorism”
sound vacuous when these sound-bytes are given by moderate Muslims a
day after every terrorist strike in India. Whatever happened to the
recent fatwa against terrorism? Was it valid? Does Islam authorise such
edicts? Did any Muslim take that fatwa seriously?

	The other
strategy is for the members of the media to sit together and agree
upon. How about reporting a terrorist attack in a bland manner instead
of getting into the gory, graphic details? Remember, the sight of blood
that shocks an ordinary citizen, inspires the terrorist at the same
time.

Next, “difficult terrains” is no excuse. Borders with
Bangladesh and Pakistan should be completely sealed. All illegal
Bangladeshi infiltrators should be sent back.

	A medium-term plan
involves politics. The legislature should make tough laws and the
executive take tougher, faster actions, instead of indulging in
minority appeasement and vote-bank politics.

	In the long term,
people should be made aware of the real causes and nature of terrorism.
They should be explained how terrorism is not only a political motive
of our western neighbour, but also a religious motive deeply rooted in
such Islamic doctrines that instigate jihad, whose supporters are many
within the country. This could be done by publishing books, pamphlets
and holding conferences, in mass awareness programmes.

	Government
should corner the country’s hostile neighbours in the international
community and not be soft on them on the issues of national security.
So far, diplomatic pressure on the countries sponsoring or harbouring
terrorists has left a lot to be desired. India realises that it has to
fight this war alone. But the grit of a lone fighter is conspicuous by
its absence.

	Rise India!

Truth is belief in God. China is the Truth today.

Dear Countrymen,

Born RSS, Die RSS.But born in India, willing to die for CHINA ? Crazy, I being an Indian refuse to die for my own Country and want to die for China. Truth is the basic premise of my comment.

It is very difficult to digest and understand what i have to say. I said this to VHP Asian /Australian Head (Shri Ravi) when he visited me in China. He was Shocked and was not willing to look at the Truth that i had found while living in China for 5 years.

Refusing to live in India, dishonestly doing business and living day in and day out based on Bribery, Corruption and lies, I shifted to China at 42 Years of age. I thought when i would go there - people will be wearing Blue and on Bicycles with a lot of military presence. Astoundingly - it was like Europe or like USA.

China teaches it's children - Honesty, Hardwork, To do thier Best and Loyalty. If any one breaks the law, no one can protect him but if he is on the side of the law nobody can touch him. Many Cities, towns, villages have 24 hours water, electricity and fantastic infrastructure.

People are dedicated and when you ask them they say"We will try our Best" and that is what they do.Government doesnot harrass its citizens. Corrupt leaders when caught are Severly punished.

I will give you an instance.

A gangster was tried by State High Court and the verdict was NOT GUILTY. Next day- China Daily announced" Gangster judgement not valid- Supreme court will try gangster in 15 Days". On 16th Day the China daily announced" Gangster found Guilty- Sentenced to Death, Injected with Poison, Gangster is Dead".

That means the Nation is AWAKE. It does not take Issues making China weak or Issues that promote Dishonesty - LIGHTLY.

This is just one of my Paragraphs, Millions of Reasons latter i found that Dying for China would be worthwhile......I will continue my blog. Meanwhile remember that Truth is Belief in GOD. What i am writing here is the TRUTH.

Indian Knowledge Banks

The Indian Knowledge Bank.Indian Knowledge Bank-Nalanda- Had Indian Books- they burnt for MONTHS- just imagine Books burning for months. How many books were there ? Millions ?Let us try to piece together the Indian Knowledge Bank. For this we need to Focus our Vision on VEDAS and related documents of Sruti (What is heard about life)and Smrthi ( What is recollection of life, learnt from elders and passed on to the young.). Vedas are a component of Sruti:Sruti *The Primary source of authority for everything in Hinduism.**These are fixed, eternal and not changeable.*1.Sruti Components:

A.1.The Vedas ( Knowledge or Science.)

There are four Vedas:Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda. A.2.Branches of Vedas:Rig-Veda - Branches: sakala; sankhayana
Yajur-veda - Branches: taittirIya; maitrayanlya; kanva; madhyandina
Sama-veda - Branches: ranayanlya; jaiminIya; kauthuma
Atharva-veda - Branches: saunaka; pippaladaA.3.Upavedas or subsidiary Vedas are-Ayurveda – Knowledge of medicineArthashastra-Knowledge of Politics and Finance.Dhanurveda- Knowledge of Warfare.Ghandarvaveda- Knowledge of Music. A.4.Six Subsections of Vedas called Veda angas.Phonetics – SikshaGrammar- VyakarnaMetric- ChandasEtymology- NiruktamAstronomy and Astrology- Jyotisha Ceremonials- Kalpam A.5.Upanishads (108 in all) The ten major Upanishads:
Ashok the Great ?

Was Ashoka Really Great ?

He as the King, was moved into Buddhism personally.

He as the King, Enforced Buddhism on India.

He the Mighty King of Kingdom extending from Iran to Indonesia, Left his Kingdom and did not let anyone succeed him. He left a Vaccum India could never fill.

India the Mighty land was broken to several small pieces due to this vaccum.

In 711, Buddishts opened the door for Bin Kasem in Deval and rest is History.

So was he Really great. Personally yes but as a King no. He was the Modern day Bhisampitamah of Indias decay.
