Hindu pilgrims traveled by pony last month to the remote Amarnath shrine, a site linked to the god Shiva, in a Himalayan cave in Kashmir.

NEW DELHI — A dispute over 98 acres of land high in the Himalayas has ignited violent protests in Indian-controlled Kashmir for more than a month and pitted the Hindu and Muslim halves of the province against each other.

The Indian Army has sent thousands of soldiers to quell the disturbances, and the government is scrambling to ensure that it does not aggravate Hindu-Muslim tensions throughout India.

An estimated 15 people have died in clashes with the security forces.

This week, schools and shops remained closed in both Srinagar, which lies in the Muslim-majority Kashmir Valley, and Jammu, in the Hindu-majority plains. Jammu was put under curfew after Hindu nationalists staged protests, disrupted road and rail traffic, and set some Muslim-owned homes and cars afire.

About 10,000 Indian Army troops fanned out across the Jammu area to keep protesters in check.

As that unrest unfolded, a strike called by Kashmiri separatists closed Srinagar for several days. Thousands of Muslims poured into the streets after Friday Prayer, shouting slogans and throwing stones at Indian security forces.

The Indian Express newspaper, published in New Delhi, has called the unrest “a national political test.” A delegation of Indian government ministers and opposition leaders was to meet on Saturday with protesters on both sides.

The crisis centers on a Hindu shrine that, according to local legend, was discovered by a Muslim shepherd more than a century ago. The cave shrine, known as Amarnath and situated at an altitude of more than 12,000 feet, contains a stalagmite of ice that Hindus consider a representation of Shiva, one of their most important gods.

Even through the years of bitter anti-Indian insurgency in Kashmir, Hindu pilgrims have always trekked to Amarnath. This year, half a million have come, finding shelter along the way in makeshift camps on state government land.

In late May, the Kashmir state government allotted that land to the panel that runs the Amarnath shrine, which planned to erect prefabricated shelters on it for the pilgrims. Kashmiri Muslims erupted in protest. The state’s elected government collapsed, and a new governor appointed by New Delhi, Narinder Nath Vohra, revoked the land transfer early last month.

In Srinagar the protests died down, but others erupted in Jammu. The city’s Hindu activists demanded that the disputed land be turned over to the shrine after all.

In New Delhi, the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, facing national elections in the coming months, seized on the agitation in Jammu and announced nationwide protests, which are to start on Monday.

“At this stage there is no middle path,” the party’s spokesman in Jammu, Hari Om, said Friday by telephone.

Land ownership is an acutely sensitive issue in Kashmir, which prohibits outsiders from owning property.

Many Hindus say that as India’s religious majority, they are entitled to the contested 98 acres.

“We are the patriots, and not the separatists,” is how Ram Sahai, a Hindu who is the president of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce, put it.

Many Muslims, however, see the transfer as an act of majoritarian aggression by Hindu chauvinists.

“We will sacrifice our lives, but not our land,” Omar Abdullah, a Muslim Kashmiri leader, declared in the Indian Parliament last month.

The divide between Hindu and Muslim Kashmir is starkest along the national highway that links the two.

A blockade imposed by Hindu nationalists has kept supplies from flowing in and out of the Kashmir Valley, with its Muslim majority.

Medicines and meat are in short supply in Srinagar, while the valley’s best-known crop, apples, rot in trucks at the height of the harvest. Some Kashmiris threaten to haul their produce across the disputed Line of Control and through Muzaffarabad, in the Pakistani-administered portion of Kashmir.

Pakistan and India both claim Kashmir, an irreconcilable source of sectarian hostility since 1947, when colonial India was partitioned to create India and Pakistan. India controls southern Kashmir while Pakistan controls the northwestern part.

Relations between the nations are tense, and Indian officials worry that the grievances felt by Muslims in the Kashmir Valley might be exploited by their supporters in Pakistan.

The current crisis reflects the scars of yesteryear. In 1989, when the Kashmiri separatist movement began, hundreds of thousands of Hindus were forced to flee the valley, and as India fought that rebellion, many Kashmiri Muslims felt they had become suspect throughout India.

This week, Yasin Malik, a leader of that separatist insurgency, went on a hunger strike to protest the blockade of Jammu and was forcibly hospitalized by security forces.

Many Kashmiris say the bad old days have returned to haunt them. Five years ago, Vijay Dhar, a Kashmiri Hindu, returned to Srinagar to open an elite private school. On Thursday, protesters pelted several of his school buses with stones and smashed their windows. On Friday, the school remained closed. He said he was taking no chances.

“Education is totally gone again,” Mr. Dhar said from Srinagar. During Mr. Malik’s rebellion, he said, that had happened regularly.

<nyt_author_id></nyt_author_id>

Hari Kumar contributed reporting from New Delhi, and Yusuf Jameel from Srinagar.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/09/world/asia/09kashmir.html

Amarnath to Gangasagar: Same story of torture upon Hindus

One Nationalist Party and some Hindu Organisations called Nation wide
Hartal on 3rd July,2008 upon the issue of denial of lands already
assigned to the Amarnath
Shrine Board By the J&K Government. Upon the issue the Hurriat
Conference, PDP and some other 'anti Indian' – 'anti Hindu' force
created an earlier violence in the society, even upon the guest
pilgrims came to Kashmir for paying homage to the holy shrine of
Amarnathji. The jehadi force brutally tortured upon the Hindu sadhus
and tirthajatris (pilgrims).

As a retaliation a severe
protests were found in Jammu over a week and everywhere in India in
course of Hartal, the Hindus reacted and conveyed their solidarity to
the Hindu pilgrims affected in Amarnathji Yatra.

In Bengal, the issue is now entagged with the shameless torture upon Gangasagar
pilgrims made on 12th June,2008 by the fundamentalist Muslim force with
the support of ruling Communists in the state. Some three thousand of
fanatic muslims and three communist leaders planned to murder 173
attendants of HINDU SAMHATI, a newly formed Hindu Organisation in
Bengal, came to Gangasagar for their workshop and campaign for
Gow-Ganga-Samaskriti Raksha (Protection of cow progeny, Protection of
river Ganges & Protection of Bharatiya Culture). The murderous
muslim mob tried to creat a new Godhra in Gangasagar, and thus set fire
on the Kolkata Cloth Marchents' Community Building – the arranged venue
of Hindu Samhati Camp. The singularly muslim mobs headed by the
communist leaders carried deadly weapons out rightly to creat a panic
upon the hindu pilgrims and the hindu majority residents of Gangasagar.

Though the brave Hindu Boys defended themselves heroically for
four long hours before the police and RAF came to the spot, the
motivated administration and police forcefully stopped the camp in the
name of rescue and arrested 15 participants of Hindu Samhati(HS) Camp
including HS leader Tapan Ghosh. But the anti-hindu administration
& police of West Bengal did not arrested not a single muslim
attacker till date. The HS now have planned to demonstrate over the
issue of violence upon hindu pilgrims from Gangasagar to Amarnath
throughout India.

On 2nd July,2008 a press conference was held
in Kolkata Press Club, chaired by Swami Ashimanandaji Maharaj,Shradha
Jagaran Kendra, Dang, Gujrat & Sri Tapan Ghosh, Leader, Hindu
Samhati to convey the message of torture upon hindu pilgrims throughout
India including Gangasagar & Amarnath. Hindu Samhati demands the
withdraw of Pilgrim Tax imposed upon the Gangasagar Pilgrims,no cow
slaughter around the Gangasagar Mela Khestra and immediate arrest of
fanatic Muslim & CPIM leaders who promoted the attack and violence
upon the Hindu pilgrims in Gangasagar on 12.06.08.

Jagatguru
Shankaryacharya Swami Vasudevananda, Jyotirmath also condemned the
matter of torture and denial of dharmik rights of hindu pilgrims
anywhere in India, in a press conference held at Sukhchar Kathiya Baba
Ashram (a town nearby Kolkata) some days ago. His holiness said that
the Sadhu Samaj & Dharmik Hindus have prepared their mind to
restore their religious rights through a Gangasagar Dharma Raksha
Abhiyan.

http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/4996.html

Hindus treated as second class citizen in J&K

The recent stand of Congress and its other Muslim political allies on Amarnath Shrine land transfer issue has further augmented the fact that Hindus of Jammu & Kashmir are regarded as second class citizens.

Muslim dominated political forces, both mainstream and separatists, in their crusade to make Jammu & Kashmir an Islamic state have joined hands to work against Hindus.

The perfect example of it is the hue and cry raised in Muslim dominated Kashmir region over the allotment of 40 hectares of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), which till now was managing the annual pilgrimage to the Hindu holy cave shrine in south Kashmir. The responsibility of managing the yatra has been taken over by the state government since June 29, 2008. Prior to SASB’s formation in 2000, it was the government that was wholly responsible for making arrangements for the pilgrimage.

The Jammu & Kashmir government by its order on May 26, 2008 had allotted the 40 hectares of forest land in north Kashmir Baltal base camp area of the Amarnath Yatra to the SASB headed by state Governor for facilities of the pilgrims. At least 400,000 to 500,000 Hindus take the annual pilgrimage to Amarnath Shrine braving hard weather conditions.

Since the Amarnath pilgrimage started this year on June 18, some anti-national and anti-Hindu bodies in Kashmir began to spread the propaganda that structures on forest land proposed by SASB were a ploy to settle Hindus in Kashmir. This was a golden opportunity for all Kashmiri Muslim politicians to bake their political aspirations since elections are due in state later this year. From former Chief Minister Mufti Mohd. Sayeed of People Democratic Party (PDP), which was an ally to Ghulam Nabi Azad to National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, all openly joined hands with Kashmiri separatist groups in opposing the land transfer.

The Kashmir Valley has been witnessing violent protests since past 10 days against the land transfer. There have been documented evidences that PDP fluttered Pakistan flags and raised pro-Pakistan slogans during their protest rallies.

It must be mentioned here that several Kashmiri separatists, mainstream politicians and common Kashmiri Muslims have procured houses in Jammu while it is hard for Hindus to do the same in Kashmir.

Already, under a well planned conspiracy, Hindus from Kashmir have been ousted since 1990 making almost a thorough Muslim habitat. In addition as a part of a systematic plan of cleansing the Valley of any trace of Hinduism from the region, over 600 Hindu temples and shrines have been desecrated and destroyed.

The name of Hindu town Anantnag, housing several ancient Hindu temples and shrines, has been changed into Islamabad. PDP that ruled for three years with Congress seized the opportunity apparently to consolidate its Muslim vote bank which it desperately needs since it only has stronghold in Muslim dominated Kashmir with no seat from Hindu dominated Jammu region.

It also chose to join hands with Pakistan sponsored separatist groups to present it before the people as part of “Indian design to change the demography of Kashmir”; besides pleading that the influx of pilgrims is damaging the already fragile ecology of the Valley.

Mehbooba Mufti on June 29 announced pulling out of the Ghulam Nabi Azad headed government.

The former CEO of SASB Arun Kumar became target of Kashmiri politicians after he spelled the beans at a press conference on June 17 at Srinagar that some politicians were playing “communal politics” against the SASB and also dared to raise the issue that when “nobody interferes” in the matters of Muslim religious body, the Waqf Board, why people chose to interfere into SASB’S every matter.

The PDP deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beg bugged with the daring CEO comments threatened to launch a protest claiming that “Kashmiris by making an accession to India have not mortgaged their pride”.

Farooq Abdullah too keeping an eye on vote bank has also declared publicly that if voted to power, the party would withdraw the land transfer order that has created a dangerous situation. However, he had supported the land transfer to SASB when he was in Jammu.

Since Congress, PDP ruling state; there have been efforts to discourage Hindus from taking the pilgrimage. In 2004, the SASB, headed by the then Governor, Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha (retd), planned an extension of the pilgrimage to 90 days, which was opposed by the then Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. A compromise was however reached to extend to 45 days to take in the auspicious full moon in August.

Meanwhile, BJP along with other nationalist organisations has come openly against government seeking the transfer of land to SASB. Protests and shut down continue in all parts of Jammu region against latest decision of new Governor N.N Vohra to forgo claim on land.

Shri Ashok Khajuria, BJP state president said, “It was no surprise as how Congress government led by Azad succumbed to pressure by its ally, PDP and other Muslim forces backed down the land deal. Congress has the history of betraying the Hindus. We would continue to strive hard to fight against such forces with anti-Hindu mind.” The state VHP president Ramakant Dubey also said, “The whole fiasco was an insult to Hindus. The Muslim politicians have shown that they care for the Islamic jehadists, the so-called separatists in Kashmir, at the cost of Hindu dignity.”

WASHINGTON DIARY: History as we know it —Dr Manzur Ejaz

An overhaul of the entire curriculum is a prerequisite for any
positive change in the Pakistani psyche. Unfortunately, it is
reluctantly being done under US pressure, which is leading to
misperceptions of its own

“Was Aurangzeb a brutal emperor?” a fairly educated journalist asked me, after watching the play The Trial of Dara Shikoh. The
question was revealing because it shows that the teaching of history
leaves with our students concocted fiction rather than fact-based
records of the present and past.

The play The Trial of Dara Shikoh
written by Akbar S Ahmad and directed by Manjula Kumar had been staged
in many locations in the last few weeks. As expected, most of the caste
comprised Indian artists except the usual suspects, Noor Naghmi and his
son Sultan Naghmi.

Despite much professional criticism of many
aspects of the play, the general audience appreciated it very much. The
play was also successful in spurring pertinent questions in the minds
of the viewers like my journalist friend.

Aurangzeb imprisoned
his father, murdered three of his brothers and most of their children.
He dumped most of the Indian Shias in Kashmir and, once while he was
riding his elephant, crushed a Hindu mob because they were protesting
against high taxes. Given these facts, it was up to my friend, I told
him, to decide whether Aurangzeb was brutal or not.

“How about
the stated history that Aurangzeb used to make his living by producing
Qur’anic calligraphy and sewing topis (hats)?” he asked. I remember
such a characterisation of Aurangzeb in school textbooks. And if I had
not kept educating myself beyond school textbooks that would be the
Aurangzeb I would have in my mind.

Elaborating my point I told
my friend that Aurangzeb spent most of his time fighting and
administering wars and that his favourite wife — mother of his youngest
son, Kam Bakhash — was a Hindu woman. Aurangzeb used to vacation in
Kashmir often, along with a large harem, according to some historical
accounts.

I do not know when he found time to produce calligraphy or sew topis on
a scale that could meet the expenses of his palace which was housing
hundreds of Mughal princes and princesses besides a large army of
concubines and servants/slaves.

Intellectual Talibinisation was
initiated from very early on after the creation of Pakistan. A mythical
history of Muslims was introduced in textbooks where every ruler,
invader and plunderer, was shown in the role of protector and religious
crusader.

Starting from Mahmud Ghaznavi, the conqueror of the
Somnath Temple, to Nadir and Ahmad Shah Abdali, every invader was
presented as the great saviour of Indian Muslims. Three generations of
Pakistanis have been indoctrinated with this concocted history to
create Islamic chauvinism and to belittle people of other religions.

No
wonder most Pakistanis developed a sense of superiority resulting in
unnecessary war-mongering. The military elite has been clinging to this
false sense of superiority in making wars.

According to Air
Marshal Noor Khan, Ayub Khan sent paratroopers in Kashmir because he
really believed that one Muslim soldier can overwhelm dozens of
infidels. Not learning any lesson from three lost wars, the elite
continued naming the missiles after Mahmud Ghaznavi, Muhammad Ghauri,
Nadir Shah and sundry.

The fact of the matter is that most of
the revered Muslim invaders plundered India to loot. Ghaznavi attacked
Somnath because it had the largest gold deposits in India. Hindu Rajas
themselves used to attack their religious temples for gold. Hindu
mercenaries were part of Ghaznavi’s invading force according to some
historians. They joined hand with the Afghan invaders for their share
in the booty.

Likewise when Nadir Shah is idealised as a great
soldier of Islam no one mentions that he ordered a three-day massacre
in Delhi because the locals killed one of his soldiers. The butchering
was indiscriminate and ironically, more than half of those murdered
were Muslims.

Ahmad Shah Abdali’s story is no different. He
invaded India many times, looted the riches and went back to
Afghanistan. On one of his trip, he appointed a Hindu as the governor
of Lahore. He had no ‘Islamic ideals’ like our fictional history
textbooks would have us believe.

Even Mughal emperor Baber did
not conquer Hindus but a Muslim dynasty of India to lay the foundations
of the Mughal Empire. Guru Nanak, in his Baber Bani, has described how
Baber butchered indiscriminately and demolished mosques along with
temples of other religions.

But history textbooks used in
Pakistan’s educational system never mention these historical facts.
They are instead tools for creating fake chauvinism and a false sense
of superiority. Therefore, it is not surprising that within 30 years of
Pakistan’s creation, religious parties like Jamaat-e Islami had a
monopoly over defining the ideology of Pakistan. And this ‘Murder of
History’, as KK Aziz would call it, has contributed towards religious
fundamentalism and extremism.

On the contrary, the real Muslim
intellectuals, the Sufis, who spread Islam in India, have been shunned
away by Pakistan’s educational system.

An overhaul of the entire
curriculum is a prerequisite for any positive change in the Pakistani
psyche. Unfortunately, it is reluctantly being done under US pressure,
which is leading to misperceptions of its own. But it has to be done
and someone has to do it.

Postscript: Hindu
extremists, led by BJP, are following the Pakistani model by
substituting history with mythological texts to whip up Hindu
chauvinism. This reminds one of the Punjabi proverb that it is more
common to pick up your neighbour’s bad habits rather than his good
behaviour.

They support their demand for the govt to return land to the Amarnath shrine board

SRINAGAR: A new political and religious alignment is taking shape in Jammu after influential Muslims of Reasi joined hands with Hindus to protest against the Amarnath land revocation order by Ghulam Nabi Azad-led government.

For the last six days, Jammu has been on the boil against the land revocation by the Azad cabinet prompting the police to clamp down curfew in different parts of the region. Hundreds of people have been injured and many arrested for defying the curfew and prohibitory orders.

However, the agitators mostly comprising Hindus have now got a support from an unexpected quarter after Muslims openly came forward to demand the land be given back to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).

“We are living in a secular and democratic setup where every religion is equal. But the PDP and the Hurriyat Conference are playing vote bank politics and therefore opposing handing over land to SASB. It is also reality that Islamic university has been given hundreds of kanals of land and why deprive the SASB, “ asks Tariq Bhat, former president of Waqf Board Reasi.

The row began after the government “diverted” 800 Kanals (39.88 hectares) of forest land to the shrine board, leading to protests by separatists and mainstream parties. The PDP has received some flak as its leader and former Forest Minister Qazi Afzal had approved the deal.

Under pressure from the Hurriyat Conference for facilitating the purported transfer of the forest land, former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig said the land has only been “diverted temporarily” for the two-month Yatra period and the “structures raised over it will be demolished after the pilgrimage is over”.

 'History
is always written by the victors and whoever controls the writing of
history books control the past. Without doubt, the most consistently
powerful force in the western world over the last two thousand years
has been the Roman Catholic Church and consequently history has often
been what it wanted to be'.

George Orwell in his novel '1984'.

 As
rightly expressed in those immortal words by George Orwell, the Indians
have been fed with distorted history by the Western Christian elite
before independence and the same has been continued even after
independence, thanks to the takeover of the nation's history by the
Marxists and Christian stooges, who continued the dark and sinister
legacy of Max Mueller and McCauley. As an important part of the
perverted history, which was planted by the western scholars, the
so-called St.Thomas's arrival, life and death were thrust on South India. This thrust gave a solid foundation to the Church to claim as if Christianity was also an indigenous religion.

As brilliantly shown in these columns by Mr.Sundaram for the last four days,
many attempts have been made at regular intervals to impose the
concocted history of Thomas on the people, thereby removing the facts
from their minds, about the persecution of Hindus and destroying of
Hindu Temples by the Christian invaders (Portuguese, French and
British) from the fifteenth century onwards.

 One
such attempt, in the line of Arulappa and Acharya Paul, was made by a
writer by name Deivanayagam, who wrote a book titled, 'Vivliyam
(Bible), Thirukkural, Saiva Siddantham - Oppu Ayvu (Comparative
Research)', which was published in 1985-86 by none other than the
'International Institute of Tamil Studies', Adayar, Madras, either
without any application of mind, or, as a deliberate act of connivance.
Shockingly Deivanayagam was also awarded a Doctorate by the University of Madras. Deivanayagam
had predetermined to conclude his book with a finding that
Thiruvalluvar was a Christian and a disciple of the so-called St.Thomas
and most of the Saiva Sidhantha and the vivid knowledge found in
Thiruklural were nothing but the sayings of The Bible. In order to
achieve this devious motive, he distorted and misinterpreted the verses
of Kural and Shivite Philosophical Works and completed the book. Later
on, Tamil and Shivite scholars protested against this and the
'Dharmapuram Adheenam', a famous Shivite Mutt, came out with a book of
refutation written by Tamil Shivite Scholar Arunai Vadivel Mudaliar and
released it amongst a congregation of eminent Scholars, who strongly
criticized Deivanayagam for his perversion of history. This was done
mainly to prevent the usage of such deceitful materials by the future
generations for research activities. (Ref: www.hamsa.org – Ishvar Sharan)

The planting of the so-called St.Thomas's story was not only to have a foundation for Christianity in India,
but also to spread it through out the country. This fabrication
succeeded slightly, over the years, in the areas of Madras,
Nagappatinam and Pondicherry, mainly because of the fact that the
'Kapaleeshwarar Temple', Mylapore, 'Vel Ilankanni Amman Temple' near
Nagappattinam and 'Vedapureeshwarar Temple', Pondicherry were destroyed
and Santhome Basilica, Velankanni Church (Our Lady of Health Basilica)
and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Pondicherry
were built on their remains respectively. Well known scholars of Archeology have established that, the details of the destruction of original KapaleeshwararTemple could be found in Tamil inscriptions on the walls of the MarundeeswararTemple in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, even today!

 But,
the glorious religious tradition and cultural heritage of Sanatana
Dharma had been so hugely established that, despite the cooperation
from the Dravidian racists, Marxists and the English language media,
the Catholic Diocese couldn't expand beyond a certain limit. As
a result, it started indulging in 'inculturation' methods (saffron
dressing, paadayaatra, calling 'Santhome Mary' as 'Thirumayilai Annai',
giving sugar-rice as prashaad, etc) to confuse and win over the
gullible masses.

 At
this juncture, fell on its head like a 'bolt from the blue', the
categorical statement from Pope Benedict that the so-called St.Thomas
never ever visited India!
This resounding statement from the Papacy, which shocked the Catholic
community, had shaken the very foundation of Christianity in South India! As the Papacy didn't bother to listen to the Indian Catholic community and their protests, the Madras and Cochin Bishops met in Cochin, Kerala during the second week of June 2008, to find out ways and means of reestablishing the history of the so-called St. Thomas.

 As
a step in that direction, the Archdiocese of Santhome, Madras, decided
to produce a feature film on the so-called St.Thomas the Apostle of
India, at a cost of Rs.50 Crore in the banner of 'St.Thomas Apostle of
India Trust', which has Archbishop A.M.Chinappa, Deputy Archbishop
Lawrence Pius, Treasurer of the Diocese Mr.Ernest Paul and Script
Writer Dr.Paulraj Lourdusamy as office bearers. The movie will be
presenting the life and times of the so-called St.Thomas in South India in general and Madras in particular. The
film will have certain supposedly important events like the alleged
meeting between Thomas and Tamil Sage Thiruvalluvar, the establishment
of Santhome Cathedral and the alleged killing of Thomas by a Hindu
Brahmin Priest.

 The
story of Thirukkural containing Biblical verses was first concocted by
G.U.Pope, a Christian Missionary, who learnt Tamil and translated the
Tamil Literary works such as Thiruvachagam, Naaladiyaar and Thirukkural
in English. The missionaries like G.U.Pope, Joseph Besky (who took a
Tamil name 'Veeramaa Munivar') and Caldwell have a modus operandi of
learning the native language with a motive of distorting history to
suit their missionary agendas. The Dravidian racist political party,
which always thrived on the bogus Aryan Invasion theory, took immense
satisfaction in glorifying these missionaries by erecting statues for
them along the Marina Beach when it ruled Tamil Nadu in the late
sixties and early seventies, thereby exhibiting its unholy connection
with Christian missionaries. No wonder, the Honourable Chief Minister
Karunanithi inaugurated this 50 crore movie-magnum on the so-called
St.Thomas!

G.U.Pope lived up to the true tradition of Christian missionaries, by telling that Thiruvalluvar lived in

Madras

between 800 and 1000 years after the birth of Christ! The
Tamils never bought this story and laughed at it. As per the available
records it is believed that Thiruvalluvar could have lived during the
second century based on the evidence that 'Thirukkural' was included in
the group called Pathinen Keezh Kanakku (Eighteen literary works)
during the 'Kadai Sangam' (Last Sangam) days. Those days, there was a
literary-grammatical procedure by which the author would always make it
a point to convey to the readers the identification of his Teacher
(Guru) and Patron apart from his own personal details such as name,
native place, worshipping deity, etc. But Thirukkural sans such
details, and hence, the connection between Thiruvalluvar and Thomas is
a mere figment of imagination.

 Whereas,
a look at many other literary works written after the second century,
say for example Kamba Ramayanam, or Periya Puraanam, could lead to the
mentioning of Thirukkural or its philosophy in them and none of them
would have any information about a religion called Christianity. The
glorious rule of Raja Raja Chola was during the 10 century and there
was no trace of Christianity then! Also the Santhome Cathedral had the
inscriptions of Rajendra Chola of the eleventh century on its corridor
walls! Then what meeting is this Archdiocese talking about between Thiruvalluvar and the so-called St.Thomas?

 Even
the Chief Minister during his speech at the inauguration function, has
not mentioned anything about the alleged meeting between Thomas and
Thiruvalluvar. It is a well-known fact that, Karunanidhi, himself being
a Tamil Scholar and well versed with Tamil literary works, had written
his masterpiece 'Kuraloviyam' on Thirukkural. As he had not talked
anything about the connection between the Bible and Thirukkural or
Thomas and Thiruvalluvar at the inaugural function of the movie, it
becomes obvious that the 'Thomas story' is an absolute falsehood! But,
he has waxed eloquent on the supposed killing of the so-called
St.Thomas at the hands of a Hindu Brahmin Priest and went on to say
that the particular scene alone is enough for the success of the movie!
But For this (Thomas's killing) also, the Church doesn't have even an
iota of evidence.

 At
this juncture, it can be recalled that the Honourable Chief Minister
had recently questioned the truth of Bhagwan Rama, historicity of
Ramayana and existence of Rama Sethu, despite the availability of so
much of archeological, literary, cultural, numismatic, geographical and
historical evidences. But, he has not exhibited the courage to question
the historicity of the so-called St.Thomas, despite being aware of the
fact that there is absolutely no iota of evidence. The Honourable
Chief Minister, who is a well-known expert in Thirukkural, has
unfortunately not felt it important to ascertain the truth of the
so-called metering between Thomas and Thiruvalluvar, but conveniently
left it untouched at the inauguration function. Though the people are
aware of the Chief Minister's hostile stand against the majority
community, it doesn't augur well for him to openly pander the minority
community accepting their devious machinations.

The Archdiocese talks of three vital places in Madras
namely Santhome (Mylapore), Little Mount (Saidapet) and Thoms Mount
(Brungi Malai). While Santhome Cathedral stands on the ruins of KapaliTemple, Little Mount was also built after demolishing a Temple and the Church on the Big Mount was also built on the ruins of a Temple.
The Big Mount was called as 'Brungi Malai' named after 'Brungi
Maharishi', who sat in penance there invoking Bhagwan Shiva seeking his
Darshan and Blessing. Ultimately Bhagwan Shiva appeared before Brungi
Munivar as 'Nandeeshwara' and as clear evidence the 'AvudaiNayagiSamethaNandeeshwaraTemple'
stands near the St.Thomas Railway Station, from where one could see the
Brungi Malai clearly. This 'Stal puraanaa' can be found in the form of
inscriptions on the walls of the NandeeshwaraTemple even today! Even
while the Archdiocese has been attempting to establish the fallacy of
St.Thomas over the years, it has not exhibited the courage so far to
face a public debate despite invitations from learned Tamil Hindu
scholars.

 The
Archdiocese has the freedom of expression and the freedom of religion
to propagate its faith, but it cannot be done at the cost of other
religious faith. Freedom of expression and freedom of
religion cannot be used to distort history, or Christianise the icons
of other religions, with a motive of belittling the other faith, which
is native in all respects and which has well-established glorious
religious tradition and cultural heritage spanning thousands of years
even before the birth of Christianity. Thrusting of falsehood on
the gullible masses cannot be allowed. It is not too difficult to
understand the aims and objectives of the Madras Archdiocese behind
this movie project. So, it would be better for them to understand the
sensitivity attached with this project, as they have a social
responsibility. The government must also ensure that history is not
distorted and the people are not repeatedly fed with fabrications and
fallacies.

It would be appropriate to conclude with the sensible and courageous words of Dr. Subramaniam Swamy,

'The Church will have to go, and the

Kapaleeshwara

Temple

re-built on that site. Hindus will do it with the help of sane and
civilised Christians if possible, without them if necessary, and
despite them if forced. When 83 percent Hindus unite, let those who are
seeking to debase Hindu icons by bogus history realise that a
religiousTsunami will wash them away'.

 Politics
has always been interwoven with religion and history in our nation of
diversity and in such a scenario, it would be better to leave this
project untouched, for the sake of Unity!

Story creation!
The ease with which these Christain fanatics make stories and distort
history is quite shocking! Truth cannot be hidden for quite
long.Instead of searching at the wrong place about the connection of
Christainity and India, they should instead do some research to find
where Jesus lived during his teenage...Most probabbly he was in India
learning Vedas and Buddhist teachings..For me this seems more plausible
then Thomas(Whoever it was !) meeting Thiruvalluvar blah blah
blah...Most of these enthusiastic missioraries whom I have met have
some serious mental issues mostly due to bad childhood etc.Rest of them
are under mass delusion..

Hindu rennaisance
All demolished temples have to be rebuilt. If mosques or churches
remain on the foundations or on the sites of the ancient temples, they
have to go. That would be the beginning of a Hindu revival and the
first effort towards national security of India.

Sangh's Hindu idea & Savarkar Darshan need change???

Sangh's Hindu idea & Savarkar Darshan need change
There are two kinds of Hindu activists in India and two kinds of notion on the word Hindu in India among them!
They are 'Hindutvawadis' and 'Hindu Nationalists' though their views often overlap or merge and they are related to same mother - Sangh Parivar for sake of Hindu unity.
1) All Indians are Hindus just because they share same territory - India. Basically, it mean the word Indian is equivalent to Hindu!
2) Only who believe in Sanatan Dharma are Hindus though other Dharmic Indian religionists like Sikhs, Jains and Indian Buddhists, Indian Parsis and Indian Jews be given equal status and respect as they are part of Dharmic Hindusthani Rastra and for all of them the - 85% majority of Indians, the India be made a Dharmic Republic of Hindusthan!
Savarkar Darshan also has no meaning now as Many Hindus of Nepal, Bali, USA may be of different fatherland but same Punyabhumi - India. Again all those whose Punyabhumi are India can't be Hindus or even Indians like non-Indian Buddhits of China or Japan.
Further Muslims or Christians can live in India abiding by commin law but can't be called Hindu especially after Partition and these - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Canc el_revoked_Amarnath_transfer_land_order/ articleshow/3200833.cms
But, we will perhaps remain retards!
As we go on building roads and infrastructure in Islamic Afghanistan where from more than a lakh Hindu and Sikhs have been driven out and today in attack in Indian Embassy for this help more than 40 have died!
While Indians still die of hunger and poverty - there is lack of education, health and other infrastructure we go on building for enemies who know only how to kill Kafirs!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080707/ap_ on_re_as/afghan_explosion
http://in.news.yahoo.com/139/20080707/8 08/tnl-india-sends-a-high-level-team-to- kab_1.html
Condition of tortured Hindu-Sikhs in Afghanistan who should be rehabilitated in Indian Kashmir as they demand - http://www.afghanhindu.info/ http://encyclopedia.jrank.org/PAS_PER/H INDKI.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism_i n_Afghanistan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_temp les_of_Kabul http://www.geocities.com/afghan_buddhis ts/index.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohyal#In_ Afghanistan
Also why should there be 2 Islamic Kashmirs even after partition - Muslim Punjab is in Pakistan and Muslim Bengal is now Bangladesh!
So since Muslim Kashmir (Azad or POK) is in Pakistan - the Indian Kashmir should be non-Muslim majority as India and Pakistan was divided on 1947 on the basis of Muslims and non-Muslims (however not Hindus alone)!
The recent and past happenings also show the problem of Indian Kashmir is nothing but Muslim majority - change it and the problem is solved.
Let the 3 million Hindus and Sikhs of Pakistan and Afghanistan who wish to settle in India due to extreme torture and historic reasons be setlled in Indian Kashmir and since it already have lost half of the land to Pakistan and China (Aksai Chin) the neighbouring Himachal Pradesh (HP) be merged with it to make Indian Kashmir a prosperous 70% Hindu state!
India must be 'Dharmic Republic of Hindusthan'
1) The spelling should be Sanskrit 'Hindusthan' and not Islamic Hindustan.
2) All Dharmic Indian Religionists i.e, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, etc will have same status and other religionists can convert to these.
3) Conversion to religions others than Dharmic faiths and between Dharmics should be banned as all Dharmic Religions are equal leading to same God.
4) Revokation of Art. 370
5) Immediate enactment of Uniform Civil Code
6) Compulsory maximum 2 child policy for all
7) Reservation in academics only and just for the poor
8) Settlement of 3 million Pakistani and Afghan Hindus in Kashmir and merger of it with neighbouring Himachal Pradesh which will make it 70% Hindu solving its Muslim majority problem
9) Settlement of 1.5 crore Bangladeshi Hindus in Northwest Bangladeshi Rangpur-Dinajpur region and its remerger with India widening and securing passage to Assam.
10) Land exchange with Nepal by taking Ilam, Jhapa and Panchthar districts of 4500 sq km to effectively widen, cover and secure fragile Silliguri Chicken's Neck corridor to Assam from Indian mainland and in return giving to Nepal Pithoragarh district with 7000 sq km.
11) Support Federal solution for Srilanka with an autonomous Tamil Hindu state.
12) Privatisation of industry be domestic based only and independent economic growth policy for India and snvironment friendly sustainable economic model
Jai Hindusthani Rastra - Hindusthan Zindabad
We need to evolve into a new strong Hindusthani nation with sects like all global Hindus, Sikhs and Jains along with Indian Buddhists (not Chinese or Japanese), Indian Parsis and Indian Jews.
Global Hindus will include all animists, pagans and pantheists and will be part of the Hindusthani Rastra.
Since India has the most Hindusthanis it will be the holy land of entire global ethnic race of Hindusthanis though may not be mother land of many of them outside India.
Or else Islam's Jihadis in South Asia and Christian Missionaries will ruin the culture of ancient pious civilization of Hindusthani nation!
What is the plan of Jihadis of South Asia!? Create 'Mughalistan' - largest Islamic State running from Afghanistan to Arakan (Myanmar) and Kashmir to Kachar (Assam) by merging heavily Muslim populated parts of North India and contiguous areas like the Indian Punjab, Kashmir, Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam and Northeast India along with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
This is the plan of MUGHALISTAN RESERACH INSTITUTE of Jehangir Nagar University,
Bangladesh along with DGFI-Bangladesh and ISI-Pakistan and Jihadis of South Asia are fighting to achieve it!
The population of this area will be 85 crore of which 45 crore Muslims, 35 crore Hindus and 5 crore others.
They know once if they can attain it the non-Muslims will be tortured and mass connverted, killed or driven out.
But that will not end as after Partition of 1947, it is the second stage to convert Kafir land - Darul Harb into Darul Islam so that according to Quran Darul Aman is established though no peace or Aman is found even in mostly Muslim majority Islamic nations!
However 5 crore Muslims will still be left in rest of India and then in their last and third stage they can go for that after securing their Mughalistan to form Islamistan with capital at New Delhi.
It is the duty of entire global Hindusthani nation to defeat them!
The Amarnath land row in Kashmir has proved that if Muslim politicians of the valley feel strongly about something they can make the government bend and accept their demands. So it is hypocrisy when they complain in some summits in London that Delhi doesn't heed them or they have less power to rule the valley 'appropriately' and hence need more autonomy. They fought on the streets and denied a piece of land to Hindu pilgrims to be used for facilitating a night’s stay and food in that snowy area just for two months. The land was barren; not a single tree grows there and not one person was to be stationed there permanently. Yet the votaries of Kashmiriyat , who would announce day and night how keen they are to see Kashmiri Hindus return to their localities and how their religion stands for love, compassion and peace, stood firm, spreading lies to ensure that Hindus do not get an inch of space for a temporary shelter.
They said it is a place which will be used to reduce Muslims in the valley to a minority. The land is forest area, Hindus will destroy the environment, they said. It's a plot by Indians to assault Muslims of the valley. Hence, land will not be given at any cost, the politicians said.
They won. And they knew what they are saying to defend their indefensible position are all lies.
The first thing the new governor N N Vohra was made to do was to take back the proposal on behalf of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for the acquisition of approximately 100 acres of land. He didn't begin his tenure trying to see Kashmiri refugee Hindus are returned with honour and safety to their homes. Nor could Vohra hold any meeting to ensure the valley is free from jihad and that developmental plans are executed to benefit all patriotic citizens. The first move that a Hindu majority country's constitutional appointee took was against the interests of Hindus.
I am sending this column from Kolkata where, being involved in a seminar on security, I saw a message from the then Governor General Sinha wishing that the seminar goes off well. It is the kind of message that holders of gubernatorial posts often send but there is a difference: while all constitutional authorities use just one symbol of the state insignia – that is, the replica of the Sarnath pillar with four faces of the lion – in Jammu and Kashmir , another state insignia is used parallel to the Indian one, representing Jammu-Kashmir.
The only state in India which has a separate flag and a special power bestowed on it by the constitution is Jammu and Kashmir . On an average it gets 10 times more grants compared to any other Indian state yet it complains a hundred times more about Delhi 's discrimination and prejudice. The jawan who protects the people and the territory with his sweat and blood is not allowed to buy an inch of land in the state due to the constitutional provision of Article 370 which bars any Indian from settling down in Kashmir .
Dr Syamaprasad Mookerjee, who became the youngest vice-chancellor of Calcutta University at the age of 34 and later founded the Bharatiya Janasangh, fought against the special powers bestowed upon Jammu & Kashmir that separated it from the rest of the country and paid for his patriotism with his life. He began a movement in 1953 opposing the state’s separate entity, was arrested at the state’s border on May 11, 1953 and kept under house arrest in Srinagar . He was brought dead to Kolkata, his hometown, on June 24, 1953 (he breathed his last under mysterious circumstances in custody of the Jammu & Kashmir govt on June 23). Born on July 6, 1901, he was barely 52 when his death shook the nation. Prime Minister Nehru refused an inquiry and while Syama Prasad's mother Jogmaya Devi wrote a poignant letter which drew a rude reply. Kolkata was up in protest and even Somnath Chatterjee, the current Speaker of the Lok Sabha, wrote a letter of protest which was published in the Manchester Guardian . Syamaprasad's martyrdom made a difference in the sense that the provision of having two heads of the state was abolished and the sadar-e-riyasat (head of state) system was replaced with the usual governorship in vogue elsewhere.
'They have killed him'
Was Syamaprasad killed? Yes, said the Mother in Pondicherry . He was an ardent devotee of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother had great hopes from him to change the politics of India . In a book written by an ardent devotee of Sri Aurobindo, Manoj Dasgupta (Dr Syamaprasad Mookerjee "a pure and manly life", pp:52,53,) he has described a conversation which is quit revealing. He writes: 'I may add here a personal note in this context (death of Dr.Mookerjee while in detention in Kashmir ). It was during the 'de facto' transfer of Pondicherry [1954] the Ashram was invited to participate in a cultural programme. One evening when the Mother came out of the interview room in the playground (of the Ashram), she began to talk to Debu and me about the preparations for the programme. In course of the conversation the question of the present political situation in India came up. I told Mother that in earlier times we had such great leaders, today we have none. She said that politics was always steeped in falsehood and that was one of the reasons why Sri Aurobindo left politics. Among the present leaders, she said that she had reposed great hope on Syamaprasad, but: "Ils l'ont tue ' They have killed him. (The entire conversation was in French). When I looked at her with surprise, she said, "My child, you don't know, that there are many ways of killing with slow poison."
Why was Syamaprasad denied a space and life in Kashmir for his just and patriotic demands? My friends tirelessly write about Kashmir's patriotic past and how during Pakistan 's surprise attack in 1947, Kashmiri Muslims had raised the slogan – ‘ Hamlawar khabardar, hum Kashmiri hain taiyyar (Attackers beware, we Kashmiris are ready to face you)”. If Kashmiri Muslims were so patriotic, why was Syama Prasad not given a place of honour in the valley for his efforts to bring Kashmir at par with other Indian states?
Like Amarnath yatris have been denied space by the present Kashmiri Muslim politicians, patriots like Syamaprasad were denied a space by the secular media and politicians of the same ilk.
In fact the socio-political space for assertive nationalists is sought to be reduced in every sphere of life. It's difficult to publish your views in the so called 'free, objective and independent' media and even if some space is given, the seculars frown upon it as if an anti-national act has been committed. The entire coverage of the Amarnath land row proves it. The slant is too visible against one set of people and favouring the prophets of denial. Why is this so?
Watch the well-orchestrated denial of space to India since the Shaikhs and Muftis have ruled Kashmir . The region got its name from Rishi Kashyap. This legend is sought to be denied or underplayed so much that it's almost invisible now in any contemporary note on Kashmir 's history. Kashmir 's legacy of a citizen King, Lalitaditya, is denied and dustbinned and the language of the land, the base of any variety of Kashmiriyat , i.e. Kashmiri is denied a rightful place of honour in state affairs. Yes, the state language of Kashmir is not Kashmiri, but Urdu! Because the Shaikhs in their progressivism, reinforced by their leftist supporters, thought that Urdu belongs to Muslims and Jammu and Kashmir , being a Muslim-dominated area, must have Urdu as its state language. And yet they talk of some Kashmiriyat.
They saw their Hindu neighbours being killed, raped and maimed and yet, not a single Muslim Kashmiri took out the kind of protest demonstrations which were done to protest the sanction of a piece of land for the Amarnath pilgrimage.
And yet they say Kashmiriyat means love, peace and harmony.
When Hindu temples were razed and deities desecrated, when orchards of Hindus were destroyed and posters pasted on their homes asking them to leave the valley sans their women, who were the Kashmiri Muslims who wrote even letters to editors denouncing such heinous acts?
When massacres like Wandhama occurred and infants were shot dead by terrorists wielding AK-47s, the case was officially closed even before an inquiry could have been set up. Which Kashmiri Muslim leader stood firm and said ‘this is not done, we will ensure that till the culprits (who were all too well known) are brought to book, the case will remain open?’
Now, having forced the newly-appointed governor to take back the Amarnath Shrine Board's application for land, they say they will provide all help to pilgrims. They forgot that hundreds of Hindu pilgrims have died in snowstorms in previous years, mainly due to tortuous weather and inadequate facilities. When Hindus wanted a small shelter on a barren waste land just for the two months of the yatra season, they were denied.
Can we have a better version of Kashmiriyat please?
But when the matter of Haj comes up, they are provided every facility at government expense – yes, the Delhi government’s expense. Haj houses, increased quotas every year, ambulances, hospitals, doctors and free delegates for Mecca at government expense. Extra-large Haj terminals and extra-constitutional reservations in jobs and educational facilities.
But space for Hindus is unacceptable.
It’s not a question of Kashmir politics, but shows a mindset that grows on hate and intolerance. It's not an issue of denying Hindus a space in the valley or in the so called mainline media, but an attitude that denies India in pursuit of state facilities. It’s a cowardly attitude indeed. Otherwise why would the papers published in the valley or in the secular realm of Delhi use the inexplicable term “militants” for terrorists. Can anyone explain why terrorists are not called such, but are glorified as “militants”? Do we need to send them copies of Oxford dictionaries to understand the difference between a terror-striker and a fighter for a cause called militant?
I have enough material to prove step by step, line by line how the people of Kashmir and the rest of India were fooled by Srinagar politicians on the Amaranth land row. But what will it prove in face of a decidedly hateful attitude against a particular community? The same Rainas, Bhatts, Kauls, the same blood and ancestors, same language and cultural lineage, same skin and race, and yet, just a little change in the way of worship makes one to hold rifles and the other to pray for mercy.
Remember, the Kauravas too had denied space to their brothers. They told Krishna the Pandavas will not even get space equivalent to the tip of a needle. But the Pandavas ultimately made a mark because they were right.

H. L. Jad, New Delhi

1. Anantnag

The town, Anantnag finds its place in Geetaji,
that out of springs, "I am Ananta Naga". It has beneath one spring,
called Inder Spring. It has two Sulphur springs. That there are about 7 temples
in Anantnag (Anantnag Bhawan Complex). Two Shiva Temples, one Radha Krishen
Mandir, one Durga Temple, one Ganesh Temple, Sita Ram Temple, Hanuman Temple,
four Dharmshallas and one school building. Outside the complex in the town we
have three temples - Ancient temples - Devibal, Shiva Temple at Nai Basti, and
third at Hara Mohalla. All three temples outside complex were burnt and damaged
during riots in February, 1986. All three temples outside complex were badly
damaged and rebuilt with assistance of then Governor of J&K Shri Jag Mohan.
Now both the Shivala temples outside complex are reported to have been damaged
and partially burnt.

2. Martand Tirth (Mattan)

This holy place is just 4 kilometers from town
Anantnag. It has chain of springs. It is Surya Tirath. People from all over
country come to have dip in holy waters during Mala Mas, Bana Mas.
That in whole of valley we have Surya Temple. The Mattan Nag is one of holiest
springs. It has a share from Amar Nath ji offerings. About 2 Kilometers above in
village Karawah we have Martand ruins (Pandav Larries) which was
destroyed by some Muslim Emperor.

3. Vijawahara (Brijbahara)

This holy town is situated about 6 Kilometers
from Anantnag town on Srinagar, Anantnag National Highway. It is an ancient town
and annual calendar of Hindus would get published by Vijeshour Jantari Karyalia
from this place. We have ancient temple on road side which is still under
Dharmarth Trust and was damaged in riots of 1986 including Jaya Devi Temple on
hill and Shiva Temple in heart of town. For now all temples have been desecrated
and damaged. About 2 Kilometers away we have Thajiwara (Chotta Amar Nath)
temple. This temple too has been damaged.

4. Gautam Nag

Gautam Nag is just 2 Kilometers away from
Anantnag. It is said that Gautam Rishi had his penance here. It was controlled
and looked after by Saint Mana Kak Goja and later on Swami Gwasha Kak Ji and in
mid seventies by Swami Sarvanand Ji.It has landed property, orchard on hundreds
of Kanals, one Dharma Shalla, a spring and one two storied Mandir which was
burnt in February, 1986, rebuilt and now Dharm Shalla is reported to have been
burnt. F.I.R. lodged in Police Station Anantnag.

Uma Nagari (Bari Aghan)

This Asthapan is situated about 18 Kilometers
from Anantnag. It has about 184 Kanals of land irrigated. One orchard about 20
Kanals and about 1000 acres of forest land reserved by Pathan Ruler for Dhooni
Baba. It had a beautiful spring Uma Spring constructed by Swami Anandji Maharaj.
It was first looked after by Bawa Shiva Nandji Maharaj who had two lions on each
side. Later his disciple Bawa Krishanand ji took charge. After his death Bawa
Satyanand was in charge as Mahant. He also died in year 2000 at Jammu. It had 3
Dharmshallas which were reduced to ashes after December, 1992. The Govt. of
Jammu & Kashmir vide Relief Order No. 237 of 1993 dated 08.12.1993 put
conservative estimate of damage to 5 buildings at Rs.15,72,700/-. The pity is,
said Uma Nagari has been renamed as Sheikh Pura in revenue and Govt. records.
The Dharmshallas were burnt in presence of Police guarding it.

Goswami Gund Ashram

This beautiful Ashram is situated just 12
kilometers from town Anantnag. It has land measuring about 200 Kanals (irrigated
by tenants) and has self cultivable 18 Kanals as Orchard. It has beautiful lotus
spring. It had one hall two three storied Dharam Shallas, one Shiva Temple, one
Kitchen and modern bath and toilet.

It was founded by Swami Tota Kak who was called
even by Muslims as "Tota Kuda". Later on he brought one person
from Kulgam who was later on named as Swami Atma Ram Ji. Though Swami Atma Ram
Ji, at the time when he joined Ashram, was a student of middle class, he became
a classic example of a learned person. He was called ocean of learning. Even
Yogi's would come from Banaras to have Shastra Arth and go satisfied. He had
written so many books though unpublished but burnt to ashes now. Swami Atma
Ramji had two disciples, Swami Sarvanand Ji and Swami Nath Ji. They had two
disciples Brahamchari Prem Nath and Brahmchari Prithvi Nath Ji. Both of them are
living at Bori, Jammu after displacement. The Ashram was known for Sada Barth;
one could get meal all times. When morning meals was to be served a call "Hari
Hari Maha Purshoo" would be recited meaning if there is any person around,
please join us in meals. Till the day they left, the meals were served on ground
after recitation of Geetaji. Both Dharmshallas were burnt, temple damaged,
Murties stolen or taken away. They had purchased about one kanal of land and
constructed 2 rooms; built one temple and two modern baths. They wanted to
construct a hall. A Mandli is performed on each Sunday for night. The Ashram was
burnt while police was present guarding the same.

4. Vethwatroo (Vetastha)

It is situated one kilo meter from Verinag,
Anantnag. It is source of river Vitasta (Jhelum). It has about 23 Kanals in
shape of orchards. It was maintained later on by Late Swami Ram Dass. It had two
Dharmshallas, three storied. That said Dharamshallas were burnt after december,
1992. It has about 80 Kanals of irrigated land attached to it. Moni Baba would
look after the Ashram after Late Ram Dass.

Verinag

It has a beautiful ancient temple in main Moghul
Garden and one temple of Shiva on main Parakarima of Nila Nag (main hectagan)
spring. That both temples have been damaged in February, 1986 and latter in
1992.

Lok Bhawan

This is called Tirth Raj Asthapan just 8
kilometers from Anantnag town. It has a big spring and temples and Dharmshalla.
All temples were burnt, including Dharmshalla in February, 1986. They were
rebuilt but again damaged in December, 1992 `Har Bagh' is celebrated on each
year and person gets rid of all sins, if he takes a bath in spring on auspicious
day.

Durga Temple at Kakran

It was completely burnt after 1992 riots and was
maintained by Dharmarth Trust.

Shiva Bhagwati At Akingam

This small village is still called in revenue
records as "Maqan Shiva Bhagwati". It had a beautiful temple, with two
storey, Dharamshalla and large chunk of forest land attached to it. This temple
was burnt along with Dharmshalla in December, 1992 and confirmed by Govt. and
F.I.R. No. 86/92 lodged.

This ancient Asthapan is situated in heart of
town Kulgam about 16 Kilometers from Anantnag town. The Asthapan had beautiful
spring, one temple, Dharmshalla and Geeta Bhawan. All have been burnt during
December, 1992 riots in presence of Police.

Triporsundari Asthapan at Khana Barnayan
Devsar, Anantnag

This Devi Asthapan of Khana Barnayan is situated
about 18 kilometers from Anantnag, about 2 kilometers from Devsar town. It had a
murti of Tripore Sundari, a temple, a Dharmshalla and Havan Kund
construced by Swami Ram Das. All of these were reduced to ashes after December,
1992.

Liddar Syandhai Asthapan

This Asthapan is situated about 24 kilometers
from Anantnag on hill top near Kaprun. The place is desecrated and is under
occupation of Muslim community.

Trisandhia Asthapan

It is situated about 23 kilometers from Anantnag
