West Bengal announces reservation for Muslims in govt jobs

KOLKATA: On a day when the Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down job reservation for Muslims, the West Bengal government on Monday announced 10 per cent quota in employment for the community under the OBC category.

The state government declared the quota for the Muslims who were educationally, socially and economically backward in the state.

"We have decided to accept the recommendations of the Ranganath Mishra Commission and will take steps to implement it," chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee told newsmen at the state secretariat without waiting for the Centre's decision on the report.

He said like other states there was reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs in the state. The government, he said, had begun the process of identifying Muslims who were educationally, socially and economically backward. There was 7 per cent reservation for OBCs in the state.

"After identification, we will provide reservation to them under the OBC category," the chief minister said.

Earlier in the day, a Constitution bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down a state law providing 4 per cent reservation in educational institutions and jobs to 15 groups belonging to the Muslim community.

Soon after the court's order, Andhra chief minister K Rosaiah directed the state advocate general D S R Murthy to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court challenging the verdict.

who will obstruct all these nonsense? BJP is also making statements that no govt. was serious about muslim upliftment!!! is it not self against statement? immediate response from opponent will come that o.k. late is passed but now it is happening, so be happy!
then who can protest? more than 80% hindus r pseudo and self against, supporter of muslim!
apart from party line, who r recommending: ranganath misra , who r implementing, budhadev govt.-all r so called self against hindus , they do not see the discriminated hindus , agonies of hindus!
now it's voting time for WB! there were every chances for muslims to side with Trinomul congress as they have been proved to be greatest sympathiser of muslims in recent times, starting from singur by supporting the cause of farmers!! what farmers? who r the so called farmers?? thu thu.. 99% farmers were illegal bangladeshi infiltrators who had been given khas land by WB govt. for vote bank but when this land was required, govt. cud not acquire due to protest by TMS, and thast has become a favouring point for TMC muslim support!!
so, to overcome this muslim leaning to TMC, a concrete unbiteable favour to be given to muslim, may be it was 70% land of WB to be given to muslim!! but it can not happen easily!!! so, the easiest & best secular way to get the muslim chunk votes, immplementation of reservation for muslims under the pretext of secular report of ranganath commission!!
WB govt. is just ensuring their win in this assembly election and it will happen for pseudo , self against hindus who do not vote!
